    Thanks all

Have had several phone calls from Mr SA today. He's fed up and tearful. Bought him portable DVD player yesterday and took him loads of DVDs in but he can't change the DVD and is watching Top Gear over and over again! He used to be the one to show me how to do things like this! It's so strange.

Robin - we won't be able to go far as no transport just the wheelchair unless his sister takes pity on us and takes us out in car. She is picking him up from hospital and dropping him back in so we don't have to worry about that. If not I'll take him to local pub for lunch and weather permitting we'll take the dog for a walk and sit in the garden.

Buffy - I'm still working - have no choice now I'm the breadwinner. And as for how I'm feeling - VERY stressed is the word. Trying to juggle work/hospital/home/dog/Mr SA and his endless distressing phone calls!!!

Friday is the day I tidy up my finances but as it's still a few days away from payday nothing exciting on that front. Paid off Tesco spending card, put £4.82 into VSP (now £224.97), and tried to pay £40 off Barclaycard but website has gone funny and I can't sign in -so that's scuppered that! Payday next Wednesday so hoping to pay some more off then.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
  • You're doing fab SA :) i've just caught up with you and it's all sounding positive for Mr SA ....if he were getting worse i'm sure he wouldn't be moaning about being bored & calling you 22 times in a day () although a bit of a pain, is it also a relief to see him like this (getting slowly back to normal?)

I'm glad you had fun at the party, you need some sort of release every now and then or else you will make yourself mentally or physically ill and you'll be of no use to anyone (just kidding ;))...so please take care of yourself as well as everyone else.

I hope the sun is shining tomorrow and you have a lovely day out together :)

    xx

    Thirded! :D

..Will be thinking of you and MrSA tomorrow, Sun.A; hoping SA Towers is not in the path of any rain-storms, which might make it difficult for you to take MrSA to the pub!

Fourthed - that's not a word but it should be.

I didn't realise the forum went down and got quite a shock!

So am swinging by to see how things are going - I would guess Mr SA is back at hospital now?

    big hugs hon xxxxxx

Thank you for all your thoughts and good wishes

We had a lovely day yesterday and the rain held off until 5pm so we were outside all day. Took his wheelchair on the bus to the hospital, got some funny looks pushing an empty wheelchair through the streets! Picked him up at 9.30 and took him in a taxi to our local Costa for breakfast. The funny thing was a man sitting outside took a lot of trouble to help me get the wheelchair through the door but while I was in the queue Mr SA got out of wheelchair and took it and himself outside. He wanted to sit in the sun. Don't know what the man who helped us must have thought. It made me think about Lou and Andy in Little Britain where he gets out of wheelchair behind carer's back!

After the Costa visit we went home for a bit and the dog went mad when she saw him. We went to local pub at lunchtime and he got the steak and chips he'd been looking forward to for so long. We sat outside in the lovely sunshine and had a pitcher of non alcoholic cocktail. Later we had an attempt at taking dog for a walk but it was a struggle getting up and down off kerbs as despite losing quite a bit of weight Mr SA is still 12st 8 and 6ft 1 to my 7st 8 and 5ft 1 plus weight of wheelchair. My arms and back are aching like mad this morning! Spent the rest of the afternoon sitting in garden before his sister came to pick him up to take him back to hospital. He was sad to go back as he so wanted to stay the night and to be honest I think he would have been ok. He was getting up and down the stairs albeit precariously.

I was quite worried about him on Friday as he had headaches "like never before" as he described them. Painkillers worked though. Glad he's having some more chemo on Monday as I worry about the tumour growing again when the headaches come back.

Spent way too much money yesterday but he deserves a treat he's been through so much. Finances will be sorted on Wednesday when I finally get paid - seems ages since last payday! Have been thinking about what to do about Barclaycard which still has £740 owing on it and the 0% finishes at the end of August. I'd ideally like to clear it asap, well before the end of August just to be on the safe side. However, there is no way I can do this with July's wages so am considering paying off as much as I can on Wednesday, then lending myself the rest out of savings to clear it with breathing space. Then pay myself back by the end of August/September. It would take some pressure off. Decisions decisions!
