Sun_Addict wrote: »And now for the good news - Mr SA is coming home tonight!! The doctor says he's well enough to come home for at least a week before the transplant. He is so happy! I'm taking tomorrow off work to be with him and get him settled back in and then Thursday and Friday I'll be back at work. He won't be on his own totally as DD is off work those two days and DS is working nearby so will pop home at lunchtime to make sure he's ok. Bit of a shock him coming out so soon - reckon they need the bed! Was expecting it to be this weekend. Feel a bit scared again - it's going to be hard work. Just wish things would hurry up and get back to normal.
Oh that is good news, Sun.A! Yes it will be a bit unnerving until you get used to having MrSA at home again, but at least you'll get a break from the daily hospital visits which use up so much emotional energy.
Good Luck - will be thinking of you, and hoping you and MrSA can enjoy this time.0 -
Thank you all!
Mr SA is back at home and is doing well. Took him out in his wheelchair for dog walk (although got lead tangled up in wheels!). The took him to barbers for a number 1 haircut followed by a slap up pub lunch. He really enjoyed it! This afternoon I've to take him back to hospital for a blood test so fingers crossed he won't have to be re-admitted this time. We will also get a date for his next stage of treatment and the stem cell transplant.
Payday tomorrow so will be sorting out finances then.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -

Hello all and thanks for your encouragement
Mr SA had to go back in as a day case today for a blood tranfusion as his red blood count was low yesterday. I dropped him off at the hospital and then came into work for a few hours until I need to pick him up again. Having to go everywhere by taxi and it's costing a fortune! Felt awful leaving him there but I'm struggling to get time off work this week. I'm sure these hospitals think no one works or they can get time off at the drop of a hat! And have endless money for taxis! He is due to go back in for more chemo next week and then he gets 2/3 weeks breather before the very high dose chemo and stem cell transplant.
Payday today so have shaved another £200 off the Barclaycard so the balance is now down to £790. Aiming to pay another £130 off before next payday to keep on track for clearing it in August. £9.66 has gone into my VSP which now stands at £209.91. Have paid off my Tesco credit card which is used for day to day spending. Have £510 left over for food and whatever else comes up before next payday at the end of July. MUST make it last!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -

If the hospital call MrSA in, they can usually arrange transport (free on certain benefits). Have you asked?
The downside is that patients are collected and delivered at the convenience of the seated ambulance/taxi, so a good book is useful to while away waiting times.
Your finances are lookin' good. :T
As does MrSA's progress.0 -
Robin we have given up on the hospital free transport they have let us down once too often.
Mr SA has had his blood transfusion and he most likely has more of other people's blood in him than his own he's had so much recently. So here's my opportunity to thank all you blood donors out there. He has been very tired today and has just gone to bed. Will no doubt be joining him soon as very tired myself. I now owe work 1.38 flexi but thank goodness I will be able to make it up and thank goodness for flexi! I have to ring hospital on Monday morning to see when he can go in for next chemo dose. Looks like treatment will be all done by end August.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Two words - hard work! Mr SA not too well today and very confused. He has been asleep most of the day and didn't feel up to going anywhere. His temperature is fine so at least not infection. This may sound awful but I am not very good at being a carer - I have no patience. Hate it. Feel like running away! Dreading Monday when I have to go back to work and leave him, he really shouldn't be on his own at the moment, but what else can I do?I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0
