Afternoon SA,

Hope everyone is having a good Easter.
Mine has been mixed. Had day off from decorating Saturday, we went in town for a coffee then just after lunch DS, GF and DGD came to see us. DGD is into everything now and DD caught her with a tin of paint.
Sunday I managed to finish off the woodwork painting and the plan was for Mr SA to make a start on the walls but unfortunately he has come down with some sort of flu type bug and has been really ill since Saturday afternoon. I really don't feel like starting the walls on my own today, I wanted to catch up with the cleaning and get ready to go back to work tomorrow. So it will have to roll over to next weekend. I might try and take Friday off to make a start and Mr SA might feel better by then hopefully. I am getting so fed up of this hall decorating taking forever. I really wanted it done by the end of Easter. Oh well.
The house is a tip again, despite giving it a really good clean Friday afternoon, so that is this afternoon's job.
I have identified several leaks in my budget so am going to sit down and make a plan this afternoon. There's things going out I haven't budgeted for and they need to be. I've signed up to a 34 day trial with YNAB, I know a lot of people on here love it but I'm not sure it's for me and whether it can do anything I can't already do myself on Excel spreadsheets. Do I really want to be paying out for yet another subscription? I like the idea though and inspired by it I am in the process of setting proper budgets for everything and am determined to stick to them.
I've updated my freezer inventory and will menu plan for the week based on what I have in there. I'm also defrosting my little freezer where I keep stuff like ice cubes, bread and frozen veg - things that don't fit in the main freezer.
The weather was awful here this morning but the sun is coming out now.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Can you believe it's now 3 years since Mr SA first got ill - it was the Good Friday he came home from work having had a seizure and the Tuesday after Easter he was taken into hospital. This was the end of March 2013. What an eventful 3 years it has been!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

Cant believe its been 3 years SA, that was when I first posted in your diary (feels like 2 mins ago!). Poor DH being ill, he really hasnt been too good recently has he. Hopefully you can get the hallway finished next weekend xxMummytogirls x0

Can't believe it has been 3 years already - time does fly. Hopefully Mr SA will continue to get the help and support (including aids like the mobility scooter) which he needs to make his life (and yours) easier.
My DH is now largely better but when we saw a new consultant last year and I wrote down DH's history to take with me, it shocked me to realise we were coming up for 5 years!!
I use YNAB but I started a few months ago and have the old version where you just pay for it and then it's yours, I did read somewhere that they have a new version which has a monthly subscription but I am not sure that it's worth paying for each month. Can you get the old version still?
I brought mine via Steam and it cost about £30.
I used to use Excel but my finances are complicated by me and DH having separate bank accounts and also a bill account. I then went back to a notepad but really all I tracked were the main outgoings and the rest just got spent.
Now I have YNAB I have it set up like our bank account so I have 4 main categories - household bills, my outgoings inc savings, DH outgoings inc savings and joint savings.
I love budgeting every penny at the start of the month and since I started with YNAB I send money to savings and debts first and then live on what's left which is not much as everything I buy has a category and if I have spent that category I have to take from another one.
I am waiting for 6 months worth of expenditure to then 'audit' it to see where our money actually goes to see if I need to add more categories.
Hopefully if you can find a version to buy outright it will really help you.0 -
Wow, 3 years already! Time flies when you are having ... Fun?!
Hope you get some time to relax too before back to work tomorrow XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j
