They're coming to fit the Lifeline on Friday. It costs £18.50 a month but worth it for peace of mind. The OT brought Mr SA lots of "gadgets" - a thing that puts your socks on, back sponge, foot scrubber, a long shoehorn and a helping hand grabber. The wheelchair is on order and he's getting a new walking stick. She assessed the house and declared it not that suitable for a disabled person and has made recommendations for adaptations which we might get a grant for. I was horrified when she suggested we get rid of the bath and replace it with a wet room. My nightly soak in the bath helps to keep me sane, I don't want to sound selfish but I sometimes think that none of these medical people take my feelings into consideration. She was talking as if Mr SA will get worse.
The copy letter from the neurologist to our GP arrived today which upset Mr SA as it says he has "striking damage" particularly to the front right side of his brain. It also said he's not fit to drive.
Had a bad night with Mr SA, he didn't make it to the toilet in time then he couldn't get back in bed and kept falling over. I had hardly any sleep and had to get up for work at 5amHe's been poorly today - he phoned me at work to say he couldn't move his legs and had to shuffle downstairs on his bottom. To be honest I've felt off today with headache, sore throat and feeling wobbly so wonder if we've picked up a bug.
I struggled to get back into the swing of it at work today - post holiday blues I guess.
WW weigh in day tomorrow, dreading to find out the holiday damage, but must face the music and get back on track. I intend to be back at goal before summer.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Is there no space for you to have a teeny weeny wet space?
A friend kept her bath for the rest of the family & was able to squeeze in a wee wet area to do the job.
Just a thought.

Beanie we have a big cupboard under our stairs that could be converted to a downstairs shower room/toilet. The OT measured it up. Once I find out what's happening with my job the plan is to get a new bathroom and boiler. The airing cupboard in the bathroom could then become a separate shower. Although the OT seemed adamant we need downstairs facilities.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

Do try and get grants if you can.
Well, very glad you're getting some practical support but hmm. Sobering stuff. Agree you should hang onto your bath - as you say, you have (small) needs also and your home needs to accommodate them also.
Hope you get some sleep this evening and don't worry WW can wait!MFiT-T4 Member No. 96 - 2022 is my MF goal

Best win so far - holiday to Florida0 -
Hello all
Very pleased that I only put 1lb on at WW after a week's all inclusive - even the leader was impressed.
Beanie - the house is ours, mortgage paid off, we were very young when we bought it. My job is safe until the end of April then who knows? Fed up with it to be honest, I need to know where I am. Fed up of 15 years of working alongside people who are on better terms and conditions than me and earning more for doing the same job.
And I will keep the bath whatever they say.
Form came through today for grant but appears to be means tested and if it goes on income then I earn slightly too much. But in 3 months time I possibly may not have any income for all I know. I'll fill it in anyway and add a note to that effect.
Mr SA has been quite poorly for the last couple of days, unable to move his legs, headache, weak plus upset tummy. He was a nightmare last night up and down to the loo and I had a fair bit of cleaning up to do before I went to work. However, he seems to be a lot brighter now, so whatever it was must be clearing up.
The Lifeline was fitted today and he had a call from the hospital to say they are coming to a continence assessment but he can't remember when! I can't take any more time off work so he'll have to deal with it himself this time.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -

Best win so far - holiday to Florida0 -
Can't believe it's the last day of January already. At the end of December I said I would look back at what I'd achieved over the month in my 5 areas for improvement so here goes:
1. Lose weight - I joined Weightwatchers again. Not lost anything at all yet, in fact lost half a pound then put one back on due to holiday. However, I'm back on the case now.
2. Exercise more - bought a Davina DVD and intend to make up a plan whereby I do a session 3 times a week. I think the Zumba class at work starts up again next week so might do this too.
3. Drink less - getting there with this one. Now I've got to count points of everything I'm definitely drinking a lot less. The plan for February is to have at least 8 alcohol free days.
4. Spend less - I'm definitely improving on this front. Spreadsheet is set up to record all spending for February. Budgets are in place and must be stuck to.;)
5. Save more - This month I've managed to put £75 in my ISA (not bad going for January) and my VSP has £73.67 in it.
So all in all I think I've made a decent start for 2016. :T
Mr SA didn't want to go into town today for a coffee as he doesn't think he'll make the walk between our house and the bus stop. I walked with him to the barbers yesterday and he really struggled. I need to look into getting him a mobility scooter asap or we'll never get out. The wheelchair is on order. To be honest I'm glad he didn't want to go out today as I've got tons to do and the weather is drizzly so we'd have got soaked.
Now to make a start on WW menu plan for the week, the exercise plan, ironing, getting work clothes sorted for the week, online food shop, take dog out again, make my soup for work lunches, prepare tonight's dinner, change cooker hood filter and paint my nails!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0
