Oh for the chance to be bored, SA !!
Might it be worth asking for a case conference once all the tests have been done so that all the results are examined "as a whole", and the possible side effects of all items prescribed are considered?
Is there any financial help available for the new mattress? Don't ask, don't get. You (and Lucky) might want to have a look at this link: http://www.disability-grants.org/grants-for-disabled-adults-general.html
Also, does Mr SA feel the cold more? The energy suppliers have funds that they are obliged to set aside, but they don't make it easy to find. http://www.energy-uk.org.uk/customers/help-with-your-energy-bills.htmlWhat would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?1 -
Thanks very much for the links Satchmo.
How coincidental is this - I've got talking to a woman at WW who is a nurse for Parkinson's and stroke patients at the hospital Mr SA goes to! Talking of which, despite being really good all week, I only lost half a pound. Was hoping for 1.5 off but hey ho back to it when I get back off holiday. The leader thinks because I don't have much to lose progress will be slower. In hindsight I probably should've joined after my holiday.
Mr SA is going to attempt getting the bus to town on his own tomorrow to meet me after work to get him some t shirts he needs. The challenge will do him good I think, however,I am rather apprehensive. He says he is nervous.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
foof. that is all a bit apprehension inducing. Hope work are being ok and the kids are being ok.
sending wine, hugs, a stress free shopping trip and a quiet weekend xxxNevertheless she persisted.0 -
Here's hoping now they have an idea what is causing the trouble they will be able to start helping Mr SA get some independence back. Hopefully the care assessment will be positive and he will get the support he needs, which will take some of the pressure/worry away from you xxxxHoping to stick to the challenge this year!!

Mr SA successfully made it into town and had already bought himself a t shirt from Fat Face by the time I met him. The nice surprise was I asked him to wait for me in a pub for lunch and he was already sitting there and had got me a glass of wine. He said he struggled to get the bar staff to understand him though which got him down. It wore him out though and he had to have a sleep as soon as we got home. He's a devil for not wanting anything from the sale and today was an expensive one - 2 t shirts and 2 shirts for £70. Hopefully he'll get some wear out of them as he's also a devil for forgetting what he's got.
And finally I've broke up from workJust got to get the MRI scan tomorrow over with now.

Sun_Addict wrote: »Hello all. I was right it was an appointment with the neurologist. He said Mr SA's consultant had ordered it urgently. After a few tests and the neurologist looking at his scans Mr SA's problems are caused by brain damage - he showed us where on the scan, both left and right sides, and the damage is similar to Parkinson's Disease so he is putting him on medication for Parkinson's to see if that helps. Finally we feel we're getting somewhere. Apparently the Lymphoma was both sides of his brain when it spread, which is scary- right at the front.
The spinal scan on Saturday is to make sure there's no Lymphoma in his spine.
Never a dull moment!
Thank goodness you are getting some answers.
My FIL was diagnosed with Parkinsons in Oct 2014 and in Jan 2015 they changed it to Parkinsonism as they believe his issues are caused by a stroke he had about 10 years ago.
As with Mr SA his treatment is the same as if he has Parkinsons.
FIL has a wonderful consultant and today I took him for his appointment with a Parkinsons Nurse Specialist who is amazing - hopefully you will have someone like this at your local hospital.
Once FIL started on the medication it really helped with all his symptoms although he has a shuffling gait still but at least he does not get the shakes any longer.
Sending hugs to you and Mr SA ((( )))
Enjoy your holiday!!0 -
Hope all goes well the morra
