Just lost my last post so trying again.

The OT came yesterday and she's ordered Mr SA a wheelchair and various other mobility aids like a bath board and a gadget to help him get dressed. Some of the stuff is arriving Saturday. Saturday afternoon it's the MRI spine scan, 25 Jan it's the care assessment, 26 Jan it's the lifeline assessment followed by another OT visit. He has also been referred to the falls team and the incontinence team. At last things are happening. He had to show the OT how he got in and out of bed and he slipped and we couldn't get him up!! She said we need to get a new bed as the mattress is too soft and bouncy that's why he's falling out. We are well overdue a new bed it's on the to buy list.

Mr SA took a phone call from the hospital while I was in the bath. Apparently he's got an urgent hospital appointment tomorrow at 2pm. He got the message mixed up so we don't know which hospital, which department or what for. I'll have to do some ringing round tomorrow - I'm guessing it might be the neurologist appointment. But why the urgency? So now we're both worried.

Oh gawd SA. Don't really know what to say. Are you sure he has the right day? No of course you're not, but I don't know why they just don't phone your mobile direct. Maybe insist in future so you can get the full picture. I know issue in theory re confidentiality but he ain't getting there by himself is he??!

Worrying I know but really hoping it's all OK.

Take care hon, sending positive thoughts to you both X

Hello all. I was right it was an appointment with the neurologist. He said Mr SA's consultant had ordered it urgently. After a few tests and the neurologist looking at his scans Mr SA's problems are caused by brain damage - he showed us where on the scan, both left and right sides, and the damage is similar to Parkinson's Disease so he is putting him on medication for Parkinson's to see if that helps. Finally we feel we're getting somewhere. Apparently the Lymphoma was both sides of his brain when it spread, which is scary- right at the front.

The spinal scan on Saturday is to make sure there's no Lymphoma in his spine.

    Never a dull moment!

  • At least you have answers and hopefully the medication will help.
