Hair done although now ruined by a bath. Spent just under £20 in Aldi but got loads of stuff. I didn't find them as cheap as I used to. I don't know if it's because all the supermarkets compete now or because my local Aldi is in a quite affluent area. I'm sure the one on the outskirts of the city centre is cheaper. Maybe I'm imagining it.

Got home to find Mr SA hadn't even got himself a coffee, he was waiting for me to come home and make it. He's done absolutely nothing today but mope about. He's getting worked up about the consultants appointment on Monday.

Got the Mail today with the WW booklet in it. Still determined to go on Wednesday. Mr SA is doing his best to put me off going. Took the dog on a recce to see how long it will take me to walk there and it's 15 minutes at the most.

  • I did similar re hair, spent 90 quid (ouch but cut, colour, blow dry) then was ill and scrunched it all up in a bun! hey ho!

Definitely learn to drive - tho I hate it I miss so much when I can't drive - like recently. enormous sense of freedom.

Sorry about Mr SA. Guess the consultant appointment is a horrible thing to wait for. sounds like one of those things you need to be sort of surprised with so you don't worry about it before hand.

Hope you had a good Saturday :) XXX
    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Good luck for the Consultant tomorrow.

Hope you didn't make the coffee!!! Xx

Hello Lucky - no I didn't make the coffee.

Have spent the best part of today taking down the Christmas decorations and moving furniture around. The lighted twig tree I bought for the sitting room looked so lovely I decided to keep it up all year round. It's not a Christmas tree as such.

Mr SA has had two accidents today and I'm starting to wonder if he's suffering from something like gluten intolerance or similar. The smell is appalling. All his clothes even his slippers had to go straight in the wash.

Have ordered a computer trolley from Argos for £19.99, to be delivered tomorrow morning. Got nowhere for my printer to live and this will be ideal for my laptop too plus will be portable. Like a mobile office :)

One more day off work (although tomorrow will just revolve around the consultant's appointment as it's not until late afternoon), then back for 9 days then holiday :)

Is it possible to keep Mr SA's appointments secret until the day before, SA?

Sorry to hear things are extra tough at the moment. This is exactly why Mr SA still needs a carer. Definitely talk to the Consultant about the falling, the fact that Mr SA does nothing for himself, that he doesn't follow instructions, that he is incontinent esp. when stressed, (on your own, if possible, if not write these things in bullet point form to hand to the Consultant, I did that and it helped both me to organise my thoughts and the Consultant to have a clearer picture of real life). On that note, did the carer do personal care for Mr SA? Would Mr SA use "Depends" when you are going out?
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

Thanks Satchmo. They always give us the next appointment date before we leave the hospital. Mr SA knows that's the drill and he goes to reception with me to book it in. I've tried telling to think of it as a check up because that's all it is really. They would've sent for him weeks ago if the scan picked anything up. He went to bed about 2 hours ago and is getting himself too worked up. That said he has an afternoon nap every day. The social worker suggested pads when we're going out and the district nurse was supposed to be coming to see him but yet again they say they're going to do all these things but nothing happens. The OT still hasn't been and we've heard nothing from the falls team. I'll have to chase them up when we get from from holiday no doubt. The carer didn't do any personal care by the way it was purely social to get him out and moving. I will mention all these things to the consultant tomorrow, see if he can help.

I've tried to make him see he's revolving his life around his illness and he has virtually no other topic of conversation.

I think it will hit him hard when I go back to work and he's on his own again. He'll be housebound for sure. They are supposed to be re-assessing the carer situation this month but of course we've heard nothing yet, they said they'd do it before we go on holiday. The thing is the ex-carer is giving up caring and has decided to do dog walking instead - Mr SA must've put him off for life, although he's a carer for a family member Mr SA was his first proper care job.

  • I hope you get your answers tomorrow. I know losing bowel control can be 'normal' after brain trauma, but have they considered testing him for anything else? Xx
