Update time!
He was a lot better tonight although saying if he doesn't come home ASAP he will be dead within 2 weeks. Told the nurse what he said and she put him straight. Bless him he raised a smile though when he said he couldn't sleep the night before because "there was a man trying to sell stuff". Asked him what he was selling and he pointed to curtains round bed! Hopefully he dreamt this! He is asking for his phone and iPod so will take them tomorrow. He wouldn't let me top up rip off TV as he said he wasn't getting his money's worth from it. Asked nurse when his feeding tube will be coming out and she said not for a while as his voice box is damaged. I was so hoping tube would be out for his birthday on Sunday.
Had a bit of a why him moment this lunchtime in Mr S's. I want my old life back before this happened type of moment. Just felt so sad. Feel like I need an Oscar for the performance I'm currently keeping up. I may look ok on the outside but on the inside I'm falling apart!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Hope things start improving soon for you all. Remember at Xmas when my dad had his hip broken by a shoplifter running out of the shop pushing dad out of the way, everybody was enjoying Xmas and I just wanted to curl up into a ball and cry. Did question why him, but then sat and realised it could have been a lot worse, thank goodness he did'nt have a head injury.
Am angry now as I realised that his life has changed, cannot walk as much as he did before and will need a walking stick. But dad is still here which I am so thankful for.
You are in for a long journey which will be very bumpy at times, don't be hard on yourself , your only human after all.

I understand you putting on a brave face, really I do, but you need to either a) confide in people how you really feel and accept all offers of help and support or b) lock yourself away and have a darn good cry. Let it all out.
Actually, do both. Then eat your body weight in chocolate and have a glass of wine and a bubble bath.

Thanks both of you!!
Red wine, coffee and maltesers will see me through! Have also had that bubble bath! Also just had supportive email from friend who has beaten myeloma and lost dad, husband and sister to cancer to boot. So she really knows the score (and then some!!).! And she is still standing and looking great on it! Inspiration if ever there was! A positive attitude is key! Am working on thisI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -

Woken up early by cats chasing each other round house and then dog joined in so not best pleased! However I've got a busy day ahead so need to get started soon. OH asked me if I would go to visit him earlier than normal - I'm not being horrible but I would like a bit of time to myself as all my weekdays are taken up with work, hospital visits and dog walking. I think a couple of hours visit is long enough. I'll stay longer tomorrow as it's his birthday.
Today I need to clean house top to bottom, do a bit of shopping locally, walk dog and finally get round to filling in holiday insurance claim form. However can't send this off yet as still waiting for doctor to fill in his part of form. Also waiting for letter from doctor before I can send off ESA claim.
I've had an email from eBay saying it's zero insertion this weekend so will get rid of a few bits I've got gathering dust to try and make something towards paying off Barclaycard. I don't have that much success with eBay - it's not my favourite pastime but needs must.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Hi Sun Addict - I've been lurking since the last time I posted and you're doing amazingly well. I think you're allowed to have a few down moments - you seem to have a good balance with focussing on the positive and taking inspiration from friends
Thought I'd post re ebay.....I've discovered that you can sell on Faceb**k too. Just put "buy and sell" and your local area in the search and you'll probably find a nearby group. Doesn't cost anything to post, people come and pick up the stuff and pay cash and you say how much you actually want rather than relying on the auction. Just a thought
Anyway, back to lurking and good luck :TSPC Member #112 :A Save £2k in 2014 # 160 :money:0 -
Hello missE001 thanks for the encouragement
OH looked flushed in the face today - he was complaining of pain "down below". I told nurse and she flushed his catheter out but apparently he has water infection and will be back on antibiotics. He had also pulled out feeding tube yet again so they had to put this back and he is now back to wearing gloves again. He told me they don't put the tubes in properly and they just fall out!!! Bless him! After that he fell asleep and was snoring his head off for the rest of the visit.
Had to buy new iron today as old one broke a few weeks ago and I'm fed up of using rubbish spare one. So another £25 spent!! Still haven't filled in holiday claim form but have cleaned house and walked dog 3 times.
At the moment I'm roasting butternut squash, red pepper and red onion for risotto I'm making tomorrow. Also baking piece of salmon in foil for tonight and have made a potato, onion and tomato bake from a recipe on the back of a grated cheese packet. Feel quite productive!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0
