Finally my first decent night's sleep in ages last night, hardly any scratching. I feel so much better this morning, the steroid cream must be working.

Buffy I would love to take some time off work but have already been off nearly 2 weeks. A lot can happen in my job in 2 weeks. As the breadwinner I need to make sure I don't get overlooked. I need to keep pushing myself or someone else will take my place. All being well I'll go back Monday.

It is SO wonderful not to be itchy!

Mr M delivery this morning, budgeted for £60 and came in at £56.58 so pleased with that. Using my My Weekly Budget app for grocery spends although was lured by the upgrade for £1.49 but honestly can't see the difference (yet anyway). Budget for the week is £100 but am trying very hard not to spend that much. Fridge and freezer are bursting to capacity although I could do with a trip to Wilko and Poundland at the weekend for household type bits.

Mr SA has been to B&Q with the carer (via Costa!!!) and come back with a saw and some garden gloves. He's spent £10 he thinks. They are "tidying" the garden but so far all they've done is make a mess with leaves and branches all over. He's now sleeping.

Will need to check Tesco card as prescription, Mr M delivery and B&Q trip have all gone on it so needs to be cleared again as soon as amounts hit it. The money is ready and waiting though which is how I aim to keep things.

Tidied up bank accounts today and have transferred £15 into pot towards clearing Barclaycard. £3.02 oddment has gone into VSP. I was missing my spreadsheet stuck on my work computer but I've managed perfectly well with a pen, calculator and notebook.

Phoned work and they are ok with me still being off. Told them I'm aiming to go back Monday and they're happy with that but they know doc really said 10 more days. As long as I don't have a relapse I'll be fine by Monday. I feel so much better than yesterday. If they say anything I'll remind them I've never been signed off sick since I started working for them 14 years ago. Unlike others who are off if their hair gets ruffled up.

  • So pleased the itching has stopped!! I understand you wanting to go back to work, but please be sure you are completely ready. It is better to be off once, no matter how long for, than to be off twice or more for shorter periods Xx

Thanks Lucky. I think the doctor thought I needed some time to chill. All very well but with Mr SA there is no relaxing I seriously get more rest at work! For instance I took the dog for a quick walk tonight, get home to find him unable to move out of bed as his back hurt. This was because he had been "doing too much", too much being 20 minutes of activity. Took me ages to move him as he's really heavy. Then he went to have a shower and went in the wrong room put both legs in the same pyjama leg and nearly fell and then lost his walking stick which he had only had a few minutes earlier - I spent ages looking - it was next to the Hoover!!! I know you will sympathise Lucky! If you didn't laugh you'd cry!

Anyway it's bliss thinking I've still got 4 more days until I go back to work. Might sort out my wardrobe tomorrow. I need to be ruthless, there is so much carp in there! Mr SA and carer have more "gardening" planned (and I use the term loosely) so might be a cue to keep a low profile.

And it's so nice to look in the mirror and not "look like a druggie" as DS so tactfully put it (I had red rings round my eyes - now almost gone).

  • I certainly do sympathise! Poor Mr SA but poor you too! It's hard enough to pick up the pieces normally, nevermind when you aren't 100% yourself.

Don't forget to weigh in your old clothes after your ruthless cull! A few pennies off the debt or to buy yourself more things to fill your wardrobe back up with :D.

Boo to DS's helpful description!! Xx

Had a productive day sorting out wardrobe, wasn't as ruthless as I'd like to have been but still got rid of loads of stuff and I have 3 things to eBay.

The best thing is I've booked a holiday, going back to Lanzarote 5 weeks today. Paid for with van money. Got a good deal on a villa 400 yards from the main town. Mr SA kept changing his mind whether he wanted to go or save the money but in the end we decided to go for it. At least we know the weather should be good there in early October. Had to hastily transfer money into current account from ISA as they charge 2% for credit card payments. A villa will be ideal for Mr SA as he can sleep if he wants and I can sit in the sun reading.

Mr SA and carer did some more work in the garden today and they are going to the tip with branches and stuff tomorrow. Might have to buy a chainsaw to finish the job as it would make their work so much easier. Hopefully Mr SA has no designs on wielding said chainsaw!!! Giving me nightmares just thinking about it. After carer went he had lunch then slept from 2 until 6. I've realised while I've been off he spends a lot of time sleeping or laying on the bed watching Top Gear so can see why he never gets anything done.

Spent just under £10 on groceries today, gave Mr SA £5 and £10 went to the window cleaner. Including the holiday it's been a very expensive day today.

Don't buy a chainsaw! There's no rush to get the job done, and it's something that keeps Mr SA engaged without any cost.

    Happy holidays.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?
  • Good advice from Satchmo, but if you really need a chainsaw can you not hire one for the day?

    Holiday sounds awesome Xx
