Watching The Full Monty (for the millionth time) with a glass of Rose cava. Still makes me laugh. Feel like someone put superglue round my eyes they're so dry. They told me at NHS place I've not given antihistamines long enough to work. Although they are strongest dose there is, still need time to work. Patience is a virtue!!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

Happy birthday SA, and I hope you get to enjoy being spoilt once your allergic reaction abates.
I do hope it isn't a reaction to peanut oil, as that kind of allergic reaction can increase with exposure. Don't delay seeking help, as it is life-threatening.
DS1 has a severe peanut allergy, and at 14 had his worst attack. His face swelled up like elephant man. The swelling affects the throat and heart, so immediate adrenaline treatment is essential.
Remember the case in the papers this week of the child who was affected on a plane because some selfish git ate peanuts? That's how bad DS's allergy is. The dust/oil from the peanuts is recirculated in air-conditioning and affects the airways of those who are allergic. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -
I look even worse today. Eyes are still swollen and my whole body is covered in massive red weeping blotches. Beginning to wonder if it's an infection of some sort. Really fed up as we are meant to be going out tonight and we paid £60 up front for tickets with meal included. Apart from being sore I don't actually feel that bad. DD thinks I should phone emergency doctor. Don't know what to do.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

..Hope you've 'phoned the doctor by now, and are being seen today!
Can you give away your ticket for tonight?
Doesn't sound like a good idea to expose yourself to many potential allergens at a restaurant, while you are suffering this possible reaction to an unknown substance!
As Satchmo says, if it is an allergic reaction, then a second exposure could become life-threatening terrifyingly quickly (without a firm diagnosis, don't suppose you've got an epi-pen in your bag?)!0 -
Hello all - I've been seen by emergency doctor and she says it's an infection. So now on antibiotics but got to keep taking antihistamines too. She thinks it's exzema gone awry. Got to go to GP in 48 hours for check up. Could be delayed reaction to stress from last year with Mr SA. Remember I had trouble with itchy skin last year? Got to avoid skin contact with him and no sharing towels with anyone. He's keeping out of my way right now! Depending on how I feel we might still go tonight even if it's just for the meal. At the moment I'm not too bad so we'll see how it goes. I'm worse first thing in the morning. Still look like I've been burned though. Mr SA still keen to go out and is trying to convince me it'll be dark and no one will notice! Bless himI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

Oh good Sun.A, glad to read that you've seen the doctor and she is confident of her diagnosis.
As you've been warned to avoid skin contact, is it fair to go out in public, even if you feel ok?
 Bit confused though; eczema isn't usually contagious is it?
The skin is such an interesting organ.. Is the doctor saying that you've picked up this infection via an eczema lesion?0 -
Yes that's right Robin, by breaking the skin bacteria has got in
. We're going to go for the meal and see how things go from there. We can always gets taxi home early if need be as venue is only 3 miles away. Eczema not contagious but need to be careful with Mr SA and my "pustules" as they are infected. Although doc says he should be ok, just a precaution really. Fed up
