I think any would work for a backup - however bad they are unlikely to both be out of action. Nationwide has just opened a new cheque account that pays 5% interest (with conditions) for 1yr and Santander have been doing one with 3% for some while. Both feature on this site but only of use if you pay in £1000 per month. For backup just a simple account with any of the high street banks or First Direct get good reviews..
Natwest just back online for me at 22:50.. I don't like carrying more plastic cards around than I have to but good idea to have ones credit card with a different bank than ones debit card......0 -
I wouldn't get too excited, a friend has just paid me via 'pay your contacts' on the mobile app and it's left her but hasn't reached me.dacdesigns wrote: »Payment made,

Love how they are blasting out on Twitter/Facebook that they are "proud to say all systems are back up and running"  :mad:mystic_trev wrote: »Yes! :mad:0 -
Quite agree.... they crashed last year and seems they haven't learnt a lesson. However, don't loose any sleep as the boss of this state owned bank is due to get £800,000 bonus after his bank has just been fined nearly £400,000,000.
The tax payer is footing the bill for the fine too BTW. Happy little bankers:mad:Official DFW nerd - 282 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts'
