Yep, cutting it fine for no reason either as the money has been sat in my account since Friday  Still doesn't make it my fault if I'm unable to pay it due to NatWest being down.

No I completely agree not your fault at all, it's reasonable to expect 24hr banking thesedays, the outages are going to happen at some stage, but NatWest are pushing their luck!

Just had my Visa Debit card declined in the local pub. What an embarrassment as could not pay for the meals and drinks. The debit card machine tried twice with same result. *# DECLINED *#

Tried phoning the requisite number from the back of the debit card and of course - please hold all of our customer service operators are currently engaged on calls. However please continue to hold and we will be with you as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.

Hang on long enough and you will find that ALL their systems have been down for about 2hrs - they don't know why - they don't have a time for it to be fixed - they don't have a live backup system that can take over.

Feel sorry for the poor sods on their help line. Actually said ~ Okay I'll get off the line to let you answer the thousands of other poor customers stranded with no way to pay. The reply was "Thanks and yes it's about 1000 currently waiting.".

No wonder someone said on the radio today that our (the governments) shares in RBS are not worth what they thought they were......

  • I tried to buy train tickets online and the process seemed like it went through till the last minute so I hope it hasn't charged me anyway.

Luckily I have Santander as well so will just use that to buy the tickets for now.

Same here. Very glad I bought my train tickets earlier today... Must get a backup bank account in place. Any suggestions?

Yeah, this is really bad. I just tried paying in Sainsbury's and it did not work! Card declined.

Tried to log into Online Banking, it is down!

Tried calling their numbers -- 0800 and 02/01 no NatWest phones work!

    What a crap bank.

Quite agree.... they crashed last year and seems they haven't learnt a lesson. However, don't loose any sleep as the boss of this state owned bank is due to get £800,000 bonus after his bank has just been fined nearly £400,000,000.
