Retiredlady - I'm very jealous of your new puppy!
My bichon (Taffy) is now 2 and a half years old and is absolutely brilliant - I love him to bits. I walk about 3 miles a day with him on most days.
I hope you enjoy him - their little personalities are great, very funny loving little dogs with loads of energy.0 -
Hi all
Well, I've just completed a food diary for today, calculated the calories, and then did a comparison with SW. As you'll see, I've had a very low syn day as far as SW is concerned, yet I've had more than 1600 calories if I've worked it out right. Normally I'd be looking forward to a glass of wine or a snack before going to bed, but not today.
I suppose the answer is exercise - I'll have to borrow the neighbour's dog and take it for a walk - another Bichon Frise, also called Charlie, and such a character!

Ooooh, now I miss my dear dog. She must be in dog heaven, because she was the sweetest thing.
Anyway, I feel like I'll never be able to catch up with so many posts. Also I feel... tired. Yes, I've been to the gym. But when I arrived there I was already... tired.
I haven't been moving that much at the office. I've got to see my GP to comment on the x-ray they took on my knee last week, so I'm going to ask him for advice. I'm plain tired of being tired all the time.
Oh, yes, I'm maintaining this week. Good for me, being myself'They can tak' oour lives but they cannae tak' oour troousers!'The Nac Mac Feegle0 -
Hello everyone
Hope you are all feeling OK this morning? After last weeks glich (gain of 1.5lbs  ) I'm happy to report a 2lb loss :j . Mood has improved too - don't know what that was all about, but it seems to have gone now.
Did the Race for Life on Sunday, in the freezing cold pouring rain, and managed a time of 39 minutes...this is slower than last year's attempt, but I've been having some problems with my achilles tendon which meant I couldn't train.
Still, I've been sticking to my points in the main, and will try the gym today (legs still sore - think my muscles got too cold too quickly on Sunday...). Good to earn those bonus points methinks!
Its been great to hear how everyone is getting on - it's really inspirational...I can honestly say that without this thread I don't think I'd have climbed back on the wagon so easily. There's been this little voice telling me I don't know why I bother, but every time I hear it I remind myself of some of the successes on here. Thanks guys!
A big well done to everyone who loses this week, and a big motivational 'keep going' to all who maintain or gain!
Take care all

Lois - that chart is brilliant. I'm getting complacent with the SW diet and need a good solid kick to get me going! I decided to have toast and marmalade for breakfast - totally blowing SW but calorie counting it came to approx. 350 cals. I've also been on a different site to the one in the first page here and found it much more user friendly. A lot of the stuff I have been looking up you can change the quantities in e.g. a cup or a tbsp. Plus the calorie counter seems much better as you can input your daily exercise into the initial equation as well.
Ideally I'd like to be 9 st but would be happy at 9.7 st. First time I've looked at it this way and according to the above site I need to eat 1200 cals/day to reach target on 17th September (yep it even worked that out for me!). However, I'm a newbie at this calorie counting thing so I may have it wrong but I'm definitely up for changing my habits.0 -
Morning all;
Argh! Not a good diet week at all - only 1lb off. I'm going to weep into my bowl of rice crispies. Its frustrating cause I feel like I've tried hard, but just not got anywhere. Oh well, on to next week.
Well done all! Must say, like the sound of the Janice Battersby DVD. Will check it out I think, thanks Rachel.!BCSC Member 70:j

Funnily enough I was going to ask the same question, I had porridge this morning, does this mean I should weigh it out?Proud Member of the Lose Weight Thread on I Wanna..................

Morning Peeps :hello:
Well done Ishtar and NekoZombie :T
Lois Thanks for the comparison re the SW and calorie counting, it really is an eye opener isn't it? I've never been one to think that there is such a thing as 'free' food except when someone is vastly overweight and just starting out on their diet, when it can be of psychological value and therefore a great help; but when you only have a few stone, say 3 or less, it is important to take everything into account and even more so for the last stone.
I would point out that I have, in the past, tried the WW way but soon found after the first couple of weeks or so the weight loss dried up and I always reverted back to calorie counting; but fortunately I have never had a BMI in the obese range (jolly close once, but not quite) so what I've said above is purely 'my take' on things. I do, however, think that SW and WW come up with excellent recipes* which I use but calculate calorific value, it's just the 'free food' thing that doesn't work for me.
Eriqueen Thanks for that link, just had a quick browse and it is excellent.
CathChat and Suggs Yes you do have to weigh things in order to be able to work out the calories. If you're not used to it you can find it a bit of a bind at first but it is so second nature to me now. As I mentioned above*, I use a calories book that shows the value of basic foods as well as branded foods, but there are numerous websites that help too - try the one of Eriqueens. It certainly works for me.
Anyone noticed that it's rather quiet and that Victory hasn't been about, not that I'm linking the two
