I'm a big fan of hm popcorn - though covering it in chilli caramel isn't exactly healthy.People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

OK this will sound bizarre but try them first -
On a baking tray , lay out drained chick peas, sprinkle over some olive oil and either some salt and pepper or some "season all" which I use its a mix of pepper, paprika etc. Bake in the oven at a medium temp until they go a little crunchy. Low fat snacks!
How long would you bake them for in a fan assisted oven?0 -
One of my favourite snacks is Garlic & Rosemary Almonds
Heat up some butter, or olive oil in a pan, add almonds, some chilli powder, a tsp or 2 of rosemary then about 2 large crushed garlic cloves
Only takes a few mins, until the Almonds are slightly brown, not too much or the garlic will burn.
To me they are so delicious and fill you up so quickly! It's almost unfair!0 -
This is my new plan, i am going to spy on what Gra$e put in their snack boxes that they send out to people, copy the ideas and buy in bulk, get some cheap mini tuppawere boxes and away we go! I am a snack a holic, especially where crisps are concerned ;-)Don't turn a slip up into a give up

Hi there i need some alternatives to crisps to put into lunchboxes.
As well as not being that healthy for me and my little ones i have very little money to buy them (i realise the value ones are only around 50p but when going there to buy crisps i tend to get carried away and buy other bits we need).
I was wondering if anyone had any cheap suggestions that could come out of the store cupboard in times when supermarket shop is in a few days, and could keep kids going.

Mini oatcakes, nuts and vegetable sticks like carrot and pepper are our favourite savoury accompaniment to a sarnie. Sometimes a few cubes of sheese depending on the sarnie filling. We do have crisps occasionally at home but when trying to create a balanced lunchbox, I like to try to have savoury flavours as well as the sweet fruit too. If it is for snacks, then crackers with peanut butter and veg sticks plus some dried fruit is a favourite here.Love and compassion to all x0

My son has pepperami sticks, sausage roll, samosa, mini scotch eggs, cheese strings, mini cheddars, (these are all or not and!
) onion bhaji, cheese straws can be made cheaply and store well in the freezer, mini quiche, you could fry a tortilla and break it up - add some seasonings or chilli powder.

I put in a sandwich, bit of veg, eg cherry toms, cucumber or carrot sticks. A bit of cheese and a cereal bar or biscuit or a cracker. Don't bother with crisps in the packed lunch at all unless they are going on a trip then they get them as a treat.Grocery challenge July £250
