If there are no nut allergy kids in the school you could try filling a small tub with a mix of nuts/seeds/dried fruit.

Lower fat alternative - pasta crisps. Cook pasta shapes (or lasagne sheets) as normal then bake on non-stick tray with spray of oil/frylight and shake of favourite seasoning or one of the shwartz shotz. If you think reality makes sense, you're just not paying attention!0

If you've got a pumpkin (admittedly unlikely at this time of year), the seeds are delicious sprinkled with a bit of chilli powder and salt and roasted in the oven for about 15 minutes. Eat one every so often to check they're not getting overcooked.0

I found some extra light cheese spread with garlic and herbs in Tesco last week - very yummy and low in calories and fat, and only 38p (not marked as special offer, but new, so may be introductory price). This is really good with raw carrots or cucumber. You could also try hummus as well.0

OK this will sound bizarre but try them first -
On a baking tray , lay out drained chick peas, sprinkle over some olive oil and either some salt and pepper or some "season all" which I use its a mix of pepper, paprika etc. Bake in the oven at a medium temp until they go a little crunchy. Low fat snacks!
First of all I know this post is 2 years old
I made these last night as love savoury snacks. I took some to work today and they're not crunchy at all, just soggy and horrible! Any ideas where I went wrong? I left them in the oven for over half an hour as they didn't seem to be doing a lot.
I also tried the sunflower seeds with some garlic powder and a little oil. They toasted nicely, but they're coated in oil and probably not edible, maybe I need some of that spray oil?
I think i'll just stick to crisps from now on.Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

He he. Bless. Did you dry them before adding the oil? I made these years ago and remember having to leave them in some time and i think they went crispier on sitting out. Hmmm. I also don't think they keep their crunch next day.
I'm savoury person too and used to be addicted to crisps. I have replaced with toasted nuts. Toasting them brings out their nutty flavour and they have good fats in too. As always, moderation is still important though! Well,. i used to burn them in the oven, but now find dry frying them gives better results. They keep well in a tub.
The only thing that has cured my crisp addiction is doing the Paul McKenna weight loss system! And i never thought that would happen either.A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

No, I didn't dry them, just drained them and then put oil and paprika on. Sounds like they were too wet...oops. I did leave them afterwards before I put them in a tub, but to be honest they had the same lack of crunch last night! I shall try again one day and make sure I dry them first.
I did think of frying the sunflower seeds instead of putting them in the oven, but knowing me i'd burn them (i'm not actually that bad at cooking...honest!) but I managed to destroy a pan a few weeks ago attempting popcorn. I'll try them again too, good job they were on offer as think last nights attempt will end up in the bin.
I could never give up crisps. I tried once and it lasted 2 weeksI have no other 'vices' so they are my weakness. Plus they jump into my trolley when i'm shopping...especially chilli kettle chips! :rotfl:
