Have you seen the weetabix brownies thread? A slice of thriftlady's flapjack goes down (a bit too) well here, or some home made muffins are quick to do, as are cheese scones.

A fruit salad, some yoghurt, dried fruit, a banana, a couple of custard creams and a glass of milk. I am SO going to make that seed thing too!

I make my own pop corn. Try sprinkling chilli powder in the oil if you want savoury.

    Home made munchy seeds

    I make these a lot

2 cups of sunflower seeds (that's US cup measures -use 2 teacupfuls)
1 tbsp of oil -any kind
1 tbsp of soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce

mix all together in alarge roasting tin and bake for 30 mins at 170 degrees C.
Stir every 10 mins or so.

    Store in an airtight container.

Obviously you can use different seeds and experiment with the flavourings adding spices or garlic salt.

Much cheaper than the Lakeland ones and just as good.

They sound good!! And I actually have all the ingredients at home.. might have a go at them tonight :)

If it's any help I find that a 300g Tesco bag of seeds equates to 2 cups. We love these with loads of garlic salt.

Don't do what I just did and add chopped nuts though. It looks like the nuts are burning and sticking together. Doh! At least my tomatoes seem to be roasting okay!

Oh my! Not a total disaster. The seeds weren't quite done and the nuts were a bit overdone but still really nice. I think they would make a good topping to sprinkle over couscous or roast peppers too.

Thanks, Thriftlady. I'll be doing it properly next time! (Didn't have enough seeds this time!)

They sound great - I take it you could try different mixes of seeds as well? Pumpkin, hemp seed etc

I used a seed mix. I used soy sauce on mine. I've got seeds on my shopping list for next week so I can make it properly. Fantastic idea for a snack.

OK this will sound bizarre but try them first -

On a baking tray , lay out drained chick peas, sprinkle over some olive oil and either some salt and pepper or some "season all" which I use its a mix of pepper, paprika etc. Bake in the oven at a medium temp until they go a little crunchy. Low fat snacks!
