For stiles why not use a harness with a handle designed to lift the dog over?

Haha!! I couldn't lift my dog more than 6 inches off the ground, let alone up and over a 5 ft high stile!!

On a more positive note, I was walking her along a disused railway line (Tissington Trail) on her extending lead and a cyclist came up quietly behind me. As soon as I became aware of him, I pulled her over towards me to give him space, but by then the cyclist had already dismounted. I apologised and the lovely guy said, don't apologise, she has just as much right as I have to be on this trail. I nearly proposed to him on the spot, but he got back on his bike and cycled off into the distance.

    So not all bad!!

People with small dogs who laugh when their Yorkie / JRT / Bichon etc snarls and lunges for my 9 stone Akita, and come out with some witticism like: "He'll eat you for breakfast!" or "Haha, he thinks he's a Rottweiler!"

I tend to ask them if they would think it funny if MY dog behaved that way to theirs...

Dead hard people with dead hard dogs....Treat them like they have leprosy..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

When out walking. and a fair distance from the car, there is nothing more terrifying than the sound of hounds- I end up trying to run like crazy to avoid them catching up.

Mind you. even when my dogs are in my own field running around, hounds coming onto my land is terrifying- they are not supposed to come in my field but the hunters just don't care.

Not having enough bins for the poop/hands for the bag, I have to pick up, I have to have control of the dog I am walking, all well and good but it's difficult to cross roads/use two hands, say if we're passing another dog, when you have a knotted bag full of waste swinging around. Especially as we tend to march than stroll and the bag does swing!

dog owners who scoop the poop then leave the bag on the beach, surely that is less eco-friendly than just leaving it "bare" on the sand where it will get washed away by the next high tide

and I have a VERY nice retractable tape lead, recoil mechanism works very well, but the tape has started to show signs of wear. I dont expect a lead to last forever, but when I get one with a lovely smooth mechanism then it tends to be the tape that wears out (NEVER use a retractable lead on the beach, the mechanism gets full of sand and never works properly again!)

    I totally agree!
Had an 'incident' today with a swinging poo bag/dancing dog. Ended up with the bag exploding and me having to go and get changed

My dog is the most anti-social sod going, so I am considering getting a high vis vest with the words 'dog in training' or something written on to try and encourage people to give us space. So some way of communicating with other dog owners before you end up with the dancing dog situation would be good too.

Tried that I'm afraid but noone seems to know what it means. :( It hasn't made the slightest bit of difference, other than giving me a bit of back-up in being able to explain that I have tried to warn people before they get too close.

I need something more obvious for less savvy dog owners!
