I think a lot of dogs these days just aren't socialised properly as puppies.

Most dogs, if they are, will be absolutely fine interacting off lead with other dogs of any size. It makes me sad to see dogs who are clearly dying to meet and greet others being stopped by nervous or over-protective owners. Its an absolute joy to see mine making new friends and running around happily in an impromptu 'pack' at the park.

My dog was socialized as a pup but is funny with about half of the dogs she meets and is no good with lead to lead contact ( working on it) . She was like this from her very first puppy class , so some dogs have that nature from puppyhood
Obstacles are things a person sees when he takes his eyes off his goal.
