So if not ESA wat else should I be getting it confuses me
It was easyer when we're both working I had someone come out to fill forms in
He was nice he explained everything what he was putting and what I struggled with day to day ..dla I had to detail everything ESA I didn't really have to go into detail.
What would u all suggest as my partner as sent the forms

it would be JSA, but you obviously arent ready to be looking for work.
go down the ESA route and dont worry about what to fo next until you need to

I'd get help from somewhere that deals with benefits (DIAL) or similar, rather than relying on your support worker. Mine's brilliant, and sent a great letter of support for my DLA when I was appealing, but she wouldn't have been able to help me fill in the forms from scratch because it's not her area of expertise.

I had my DLA stopped last summer at renewal (completely reinstated at reconsideration), and because of that ended up at the intensive crisis day unit at the mental hospital. The amount of misinformation I got about my benefits from the staff there was quite scary.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

^ no, don't worry, you've applied for the right 2 benefits, and ESA takes ages to come through, I think my husband's claim took about 12 weeks, but you could get someone to ring and chase it up.

Hope you don't mind me asking, but did a psychiatrist give you the diagnosis of 'Split Personality Disorder'?. I see a psychiatrist and he just point blank doesn't believe in it as a diagnosis (not accusing you of being untruthful but I am interested - and I do know what it's like to have people disbelieving your MH problems, not nice :().

If you're worried that you haven't heard anything yet, you can always give them a call and see if you are being called for an assessment or not. Sometimes they don't need to see you again. I was getting a wee bit worried about mine as I hadn't heard anything. Called ATOS up, they said that my claim had been returned to DWP as they didn't need to see me. Although, 4 weeks isn't that long in all honesty, but they would be able to tell you if they had received the ESA50.

ESA is all about hitting descriptors for each group. If you google ESA descriptors you will then see which ones apply to you.

DLA is all about your care and mobility needs. Again a quick google search will show you what they mean by that.

    Good luck.

A friend has been under psychiatrist and he said to her, you've got a split personality, but we don't call it that any more. She came away totally confoozled

a lot of us have 'issues'. our ability to cope is different.
and that is what DLA is based on.
it isnt about diagnosis, its about ability to cope
