So what's the big fuss? Is it just that it's auto now instead of you having to put in the receipt on their website?0

So rather than compete against other supermarkets and helpfully reduce prices for all their customers, they've decided to pricefix - and only reward a few busybodies. This is disappointingly uncompetitive behaviour and an insult to all their customers that still choose to shop with them.0

From what I've seen Tesco are cheaper than Asda in certain categories, and Asda cheaper in others. For maximum savings you would need to split your shop into two and not utilise the price match guarantees as the overall bills can be fairly similar.
That's for those with the luxury of two supermarkets nearby and the time to do it on a price comparison site that has all current offers and prices.
From what you have seen are Tesco cheaper than Asda by 10 per cent? That's what Asda offers.
I think the big difference is the Tesco promise is to MATCH prices.
The Asda thing seems to be to BEAT the other's prices. I know where we will be shopping. The Tesco Price Promise doesn't really seem to be going all the way for us hard pressed, cash strapped customers!0 -
Is this not price fixing? Seems that there is no incentive for any supermarket to compete on price any more, as if they did they would immediately be matched.0

as for those racks of lamb -mmmmm
lol I still have radox, toothpaste, handwash, the cereal lasted nearly a year tho, same with the hotdogs and other stuff
and oh yea I forgot about the racks of lamb.. think in the end I was getting sick of them0 -
Do they give you an annoying paper voucher like Sainsbury's do? Would be so much better if they could put the money on your Nectar card / Clubcard.
Or just reduce the balance of your shopping!
This way it means you have to carry around this slip of paper to save 32p off your next shop.0 -
So TBH all this does is a cut in the deal surely. Its a higher number of products per receipt, no more wombling of dropped receipts and still limited amounts to claim back. Meanwhile the prices as Mr T shoot up further and faster than all the others.

Except that means you have to shop at Asda.
No thanks. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

How is it rewarding busybodies?
Surely it is a better scheme than the old one where you had to email the details off to get the voucher. Now it comes out automatically with your receipt therefore benefiting all that shop there and not just the people with the time and Internet access. If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550 -
I did an online shop yesterday, and today had an e-mail advising me that I had saved £3.48 by shopping at Tesco.
What I did find interesting was that the list was itemised, so I now know that my yoghurt and risotto rice is cheaper at Asda!
Most of my savings were on special offers, e.g. Goodfellas pizzas were half price, so I bought two. I expect that's the majority of the saving in fact!
I have now started shopping at places other than supermarkets for certain items, e.g Poundland, 99p stores and local shops. It is surprising what you can find cheaper than supermarkets, although you have to weigh up the inconvenience factor of going to lots of different places instead of one.0
