Have you tried going into your local branch. The people at my local bank are really helpful. they may be able to make the phone calls for you. Just stay calm while you are there.0

I dont know what people have paid in tax etc i have paid my fair bit in tax trust me thats not why im here to argue.
I googled Reclaim bank charges and it brought me here a while back there was a special page on how to do it on this website and what to write i copied that part, then put my own words in it like Financial hardship etc, I stated the reasons why i was going overdrawn, what i was recieving in benefits and then they sent me a letter back saying there was nothing they could do and apolagise for my financial situation
Post on the debt board (third time saying), honestly they know their stuff, what they can claimwhat charges are allowed etc. as I said a few months will stop the cycle, but this isn't the board where
You get loads of benefits, set up a DD Is the reply, they know their stuff,
Ask on there, they can help and a month in the black will mean a huge difference.Tomorrow is the most important thing in life0 -
no i haven't tried local branch. i just came on the internet and googled reclaim bank charges and it brought me here. i could try that local branch, but even after what they've said in the letter will anything change?0

as has been said ... banks are businesses and exist to make money. they arent interested in anyones personal problems, they just want what they consider they are owed.
you could always open a post office account. you can only use it for benefits, but it should suit your needs.
is there any way you could go to the hospital using public transport, as it seems to be the taxi fares that are tipping you over the edge.
have you spoken to anyone at the hospital about the problem?
some hospitals have volunteers that will take you in their own cars and you pay for the fuel. this would be much cheaper0 -

You don't know until you try.
And as said above open a tread in the debt board. They know everything they is to know.

i said lower rates of disability benefits arent generous.
full child tax credits plus child benefit amount to almost £90 a week for the first child.
way more than someone on JSA.
dont you think that is generous?0 -

Some info here OP from citizens advice about unauthorised overdrafts.
http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/england/debt_e/debt_borrowing_money_e/debt_types_of_borrowing_e/bank_overdrafts.htm#going_overdrawn_without_agreement
What to do if you have problems paying off your overdraft
If you can't pay off your overdraft or find yourself relying on it long-term, you may have financial difficulties. Speak to the bank about your options. The Lending Code says that the bank should treat you sympathetically. If you think your bank is not not doing this you can make a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
For more information about the Lending Code and what your bank should do, see Banks and building societies.
If you are struggling to pay back an overdraft or have other debts, you can get help from an adviser, for example at a Citizens Advice Bureau. To search for details of your nearest CAB, including those that can give advice by email, click on nearest CAB.
Hope you get your problems sorted.Your greatness is measured by your kindness; your education and intellect by your modesty; your ignorance is betrayed by your suspicions and prejudices, and your real caliber is measured by the consideration and tolerance you have for others.

I used to work for them. The first thing to try is to extend your overdraft. If you can arrange an agreed overdraft this will give you flexibility with going overdrawn with no charges. When I worked there we had the authority to refund charges if it was a one off but not if it happenned regularly.
Can you not get some sort of carers allowance? (sorry if you answered that already i didnt see it)0 -

but you dont seem to comrehend the difference between JSSA and ESA.
JSA is sustinance level benefit meant to pay for the bare essentials for a short time.
people on ESA are looking at a longer time on benefit, and are sick or disabled. their costs day to day are higher, and need to be able to save a little for the 'one off' expenses that crop up over the years. replacing furniture, white goods etc.
for someone who is unable to work, it really doesnt offer a lavish lifestyle
if JSA was at the same level as ESA, many more healthy and able people would choose to sit on benefit and scrape by.
on the whole, people on ESA dont have this choice0
