Hi
As it says in the first post - amazon varies the price - its been at 15.99 for most of the time - but then its gone up and down - if you check back later it may be dropped again - there's no way to know.Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

Is it one listed on: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks?dvdplayer=alba&hits=50&Search=Search ?
!!!THIS IS THE BEST WEBSITE I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!
Just type in your current DVD player and out pops the code to 'unlock' it and make it multiregion!!!!! Why bother buying a multi-region player when you can just 'unlock' your current one!!
My two DVD players are now multiregion by just typing in the codes found on the website above (PS I have nothing to do with the website - just love it!)0 -
Anyone any advice on the best and cheapest DVD Recorder, really confused re + & - and ability to play various regions, is hard drive type better or copy to dvd?
Please help.0 -
All the DVD players and DVD recorders sold in the Richer Sound shops are-
a] Multiregion available
b] Cheaper than any other high street shop... though not necessarily cheaper than buying online.
The advantage of buying from a store is that you can return and exchange it if its faulty.
I bought the Samsung DVD-R128 /Divx DVD recorder from the Richer Sound store in Nottingham [79.95]. There is a sticker on the front of the box-
To change to multiregion
Press Menu
Press 57538 on remote
Press 9 for multiregion
Press Menu / Exit
....And it works
If its as simple as that why arent all stores selling DVD players with a multiregion instruction.

A damned good question, seeing as it isn't illegal. It's just a conspiracy really. The manufacturers are maybe using the "DVD" technology on licence and the relationship they have with the licensee is one that requires them to appear to be in support of the Single region player, but they do also have to please their customers (who want multi region) so they have to leak the hack codes on the sly so that everyone is happy.
But then again, I have an inkling, that philips is the owner of DVD technology so that doesn't make sense. If it really is just about keeping the movie industry happy, I can't see what the movie industry could do if manufacturers all decided to forget this agreement they have made on region coding. Maybe I just answered the question, maybe they have all signed an agreement on region coding. And maybe that agreement is for a certain length of time.0 -
I see Aldi have a freeview box for £18-99 sounds a good buy0

Is it certain that this is multi-region? My daughter has just bought me one. The invoice says multi-region, but the manual says it is only Region 2.
Which is right? And if it is only Region 2, is there a hack for it?
If it is region 2, then Amazon are breaking the law but advertising and selling as multi-region.

All DVD players* will have Region 2 badge on them and instructions stating region 2, even if they are multi-region, this is so they can get the DVD license to make DVD players, the DVD licensing don't like manufactures openly selling players as multi-region.
*Those sold for use in R2 regions. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0
