Can you regulars please give some general pointers? This thread is 33 pages long at the moment and I haven't time to read it all...

What is the best time to go to a supermarket for 'bargains'?

Are they all the same or do they have differences worth going for? (e.g. I'm not that interested in bread/muffins and rolls being discounted, but am interested in (say) meat/fish/ready meals. Or anything on the deli counter).
  • Got a big bunch of Tesco Finest flowers today £10.00 reduced to £2.50. Gave them to DM and put a big smile on her face <3:)

I adore the reduced section. I find out what days are usually better. I think it was Wednesday evening about 9.30pm at Asda where I managed to get monkfish tails for 49p each! Bargain luxury addition to my freezer.

Asda also have bread rolls for 5p each..though I am guilty of buying far too many (as I rarely eat bread!) but I just turn them into breadcrumbs. Tiger cob breadcrumbs are the best!
Does the walker choose the path or the path the walker?

I don't subscribe to this 'leaving some for others' malarkey. If it's reduced and you want it then take it! It is what it is there for!

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Some great bargain, well done.

Managed to "grab" the last 8 boxes of:
Cadbury Say It with Flowers Thank You Chocolates - for only 10p per box in Sainsbury's garage. August sell-by-date, so plenty of time to use them (yeah, right). They are actually quite nice for just over 1p per chocolate (8 in box).
Worth checking as the assistant says they have been 10p per box before.

Check Sainsbury's freezers as lots of frozen fish for £1 (Young's) and £1.50 per pack (Sainsbury's haddock), missed the 80p ones!!.

Pack of parsnips from Sainsbury's also for 24p - so cheap soup.

Found some bargains in Tesco today. (approx. 3 and a half hours before closing time.) As well as cheap fruit and veg, we bought 2 of the large chocolate tray bake cakes, reduced from £4 to 60p and a Thorntons Triple Layer Chocolate Celebration Cake reduced from £10 to £1.50. :D

They were reducing small loaves down to 14p but we didn't need any bread. There was plenty of food in the fridge reduced section, so I should imagine customers that went in the shop later than us may have got some great bargains.

I picked up a T*sco F*nest Fish Pie for 33p (from £3.29) which I've just had for dinner - and rather nice it was too! With a side of white cabbage which I got for 33p as well :-) tasty and bargaintastic!
