Well done on the bargains.
I have to say that ranges like ASDA Extra Special, Tesco Finest, Morrisons The Best, The Co-operative Truly Irresistible and Sainsbury's Taste The Difference are often misleading.
Several supermarkets have admitted for example, that they allow farmers rearing animals and poultry for premium ranges to feed GM feed.
There's a difference between organic and conventionally farmed or between species of fish but how can one piece of wild salmon be 'ordinary' and another 'finest' ???
I think quite often these ranges are a rip off - and can cost more than organic. Supermarkets like to include them in website searches for organic but unless labellled and certified organic - they aren't. They don't necessarily contain fewer additives than normal ranges either.
So if you can get them cheaper great but please don't be misled by nice pix into thinking that if you pay normal price you'll get what you're paying for.0 -
Basically if a supermarket is rearing the supposedly better premium price supposedly better tasting meat in the same way that it's rearing the cheap stuff, then what's the difference ?
Yes supermarkets do make claims about their premium meat etc and it won't say fed on GM feed because it doesn't have to. But when asked by the trade paper The Grocer, the supermarkets will then admit what they are allowing to be fed.
ASDA was labelling beef from South America as Hereford beef for example.
It's great to get stuff for bargain prices but if you're being ripped off in the first place then perhaps it's not so much of a bargain always.0 -
