Intimidating council bin collectors

My Mother just had an incident were the bin men 'found' an non recyclable item in the recycling and told her off. My Mum said it looks like someone's has dumped a load of litter on the stuff we put out.

She offered to pick it up and he said not to worry about it and he would take it this time. She then hobbled back into the house only for the binmen to wave over a car from which 2 harpies promptly jumped out and rang the doorbell.

They then surrounded my Mother with the binman and began haranguing her about the items saying nonsense like 'you should get up at 6AM to check no one has dumped anything on it before bins are collected' and 'everything will have to go to landfill now because of you'.

They were intimidating, showed no id, and frankly we are recyclable less on this system then before because the bins are tiny. So they are wasting [our] money they save on fortnightly collection to fund a car with two council staff [??? i don't even know because they didn't present id] in to go around intimidating people.

They had my Mother who is suffering from serious sciatica and back problems ringed in and harangued loudly on three sides. I'm so upset.

Who do i press a complaint too it is disgusting!

My first port of call would be a letter to the local council.

Phone call to the council action line insisting on an in person apology from someone in the department by the close of business today, failing which you will involve the local councillor and the local press. Its the sort of story the Mail (love it or hate it!) would froth over and sometimes you can use the devil against the other pains in the backside.

I had an incident where (1 dandelion) had been put on top of my household waste and a note was put through my door to not do it again or I would be fined. The next bin day I put a note on my bin saying anymore notes put through my door and you will be fined signed the dandelion bin dropper (you idiots). Never heard no more.

The bin men started to rummage through my bin a while back to check I wasn't putting recycling in with the waste , I never do but my daughter might.
I started collecting a few days worth of my dog's **** from the garden and left them on top of the rubbish on bin day.
Strangely enough they soon stopped looking in the bin and just emptied it

I live in a cul-de-sac and every week the bin men seem to take great pleasure in plonking the bins back smack bang in the middle of every drive way. Yesterday i watched them go out of their way to make sure they obstructed every drive.

At least it should mean that they do not get left out on the road and or pavements as the house owners/tenants have to get out of a car to move them out of the way I assume.
