From Google - it seems than £40k plus isn't an unheard of wage for a bin man.

How is that not well paid?

I think people were more questioning the idea that minimum wage was 'good money' than what bin mem earned (which will, doubtless, vary considerably).

You need a link to search Google? Are you being serious?

It's just a matter of courtesy.

Rather than make everyone who reads the thread and may be interested do their own Google search you can do one and include the link.

Of course, for some people that's just too much trouble.

And, BTW, having looked at the linked page, I would not consider it in the least reliable.

Pay here is Local Authority circa just under 17k per year, that's local councils here, Scottish perhaps more London etc ?

We have one black bin that gets collected once per week, all waste, tins, paper, glass, food etc goes in, two weeks ago they did not collect, phoned up call centre 40 mins waiting, told asap to send truck out to collect/empty.

Did not happen bin was emptied the next week.

Phoned up to say thanks, 30 min wait but now we had extra weeks waste!

Customer service guy said should have put into black bags and left beside bin to be collected, told him this would have been scattered by animals as we put bins etc out night before collection. He said that if that happened we would have to collect rubbish from road ourselves.

I said no way, he then said they would send team of men and truck to clear up.

He was adamant that to send refuse lorry out as originally promised would be not be better, not council policy as waste was collected on designated day they would not return.

Pointed out that the previous weeks waste was not collected but could not do anything as its policy?:(

I think that's exactly the point where in this instance it is better to say "I googled it and found..." rather than point to one specific source.
If you google it and find a decent site then putting in a link to that site is definitely worthwhile.
If you google it and find a load of sites, none of which look particularly reliable, then directing others to google makes more sense to me than directing them to one specific unreliable site.

Too embarrassed to try and defend your rather ridiculous statement? :rotfl:

I get the feeling you dont work and would not work for minimum wage even if it meant coming off benefits.

People that earn minimum wage do a decent job, and should be applauded for doing it in order to work and not be on benefits.

Do they? They all do a decent job? Every single one?

Or is this another of the gross generalisations you seem to enjoy so much?

    What an utterly absurd conclusion.

Just because someone doesn't think the minimum wage constitutes 'good money' it means they are workshy?

Do you realise how stupid calling minimum wage 'good money' makes you appear?

How can the lowest amount it's legally possible to earn be 'good'. (Just in case you haven't got it yet if the minimum is good, what could possibly constitute 'acceptable', 'average', or 'poor'?)
People that earn minimum wage do a decent job ...

    Generalise much?
