You call up the nationwide travel insurance provider and ask to get the upgrade added on.

I received a card (and guide to lending) in todays post for a single account opened on the first day possible. I'm an existing customer and opened this in addition to my existing Flex current account. No other documentation though.

I think thats pretty good service. Especially seeing as people are opening multiple accounts in the hope of getting the 5% across them all.

Yeah I got some details and card and registered for online banking. Gotta wait 10-14 days for the rest of it to arrive before I can actually login now and then start settnig up flexdirect acount, and possible more. Think ill start with 1 for now and see if others get 5% on more than one.

Will upgrading to Flexdirect affect the Flexclusive regular saver?

"The travel insurance and promotional offers that come with your FlexAccount will stop when you upgrade to FlexDirect. "

Am I correct in understanding that you need £2,500 to onpen this account and only get 5 % interest on that £2,500, anything above that amount earns no interest at all?

You dont need 2500 to open it.

You only get interest up to 2500 when you pay in 1k each month from an external account.

You can open one in addition to a regular Flex account to keep the travel insurance, etc.

I have also not read the entire thread, so may have missed this previously. How do you do this? Thanks.

    Correct :)

We phoned UK Insurance Ltd who provide the cover, and paid £20 to extend to Worldwide cover for 12 months.

(Actually we paid more because we had several medical conditions for which we needed cover :( but £20 was the basic cost)

    Existing Nationwide FlexAccount holder here.

I applied online for a new FlexDirect account last night and got an error message, telling me to try later.

Applied this afternoon and message says application received, but they need to carry out some further checks before they can complete my application.

Anyone else (existing account holders) had this?

I applied online last night with same message as you. I rang the new business team at 9am this morning and asked if I had been approved. Lady there said yes everything fine and I have been approved with a £1,250 overdraft, although I only asked for £500. I said about the further checks and she said no, everything was fine and should receive welcome pack within next 5 working days.

    Thanks for this.

When I applied today, there was no suggestion that I'd already applied yesterday, so I assumed that application had not gone through.

Might give them a call tomorrow.
