Hi folks - good progress here to see.

I have made £25 - I had a £25 voucher for a local restaurant that we went to on sat. Gave OH the voucher to pay with and he will give me £25! Also got a £20 M&S voucher & a £25 love to shop voucher. Going to use them both this month for food shopping and put the equivalent cash into my %s. That alone should provide almost 1% :D

Hi everyone! Listed 12 things on ebay at weekend and one item has £12.50 bid already, i put it up for £4 starting bid. Its an 'egg skelter' and we paid £19 for it (they are £22.45 on EBay new for the exact same so pretty chuffed with the bids so far on that!) Nothing else had bids yet, a few watchers.

Looking for good breakdown cover for my 11 year old car but having no luck finding a great deal.

I was at the hospital yesterday for allergy testing and i have 4 main allergies out of 10 they test for, 2 of which i highly suspected due to symptoms, the main one, dust mites, they have no treatment for so im now on a declutter and deep clean to reduce them (unfortunately you can never rid them :s) less soft furnishings/soft toys (going to sell them), washing bedding twice a week on 60  having less surfaces/ridges for dus to settle and get rid of carpets. obviously i cant do all this at once but can make a start on the things that wont cost money but replacing 6 rooms from carpet to laminate wont be cheap but be worth it as i suffer daily with allergies. i have hayfever too so theyve started me on a 3 year course of daily desensitising tablets, this is gonna cost me a bomb in prescriptions as now on 5 repeats, once evelyn is 1 ill have to pay for them again

Thats it here thats of any news lol got a birthday present to make this week, for my mother in law  lucky i bought some patterns reduced from £10 to £2 so might try something new :o

Good morning all, it's my little ones first birthday today Percentage wise I am now at.. 43.30% for total debt, debt # 1 is at 54.33% and debt #2 is at 12.51% slowly getting there, got some payments to go out next week so that will make another 1% x
    The 1% Challenge #76 - Debt 1 = £620 - 1% = £6.20 - 4.3%
    Debt 2 = £1600- 1% = £16 - 0%
    Debt 3 = £1012 - 1% = £10.12 0%

    Pay all your debt by Xmas 2016 #130- £465.86/£7636.46 - 6.1 %
    Make £10 a day ~ Jan £182.49, Feb £373.65

    Hi Sarah,
My DS is allergic to dustmites. He was diagnosed about 19 years ago. I researched and bought a hoover called the Medivac Compact especially for dustmite and their droppings- its still going and still every bit as good as the day I bought it. When his allergy was extreme at the start we also bought a Medivap - a steamer - it's still as good as new also. I steamed the mattress, had already bought him a new quilt, pillow and bedding and I never needed to go to the extremes of boiling his bedding twice a week. I steamed once a month. I steamed the mattress, the quilt and pillow, and washed the bedding at 50 or 60 degrees.I washed his bedding once a fortnight. Would steam his room on the 1st of the month to have a handy way of remembering. If I ever forgot he would start itching at the 6 week mark. I steamed his carpet also and when it was time to replace it we put in a wooden floor. We still have carpet in our sitting room and on the stairs and my and DHs room. If you can tackle your own bedroom it's what will make the most difference. I buy my hoover bags now from allergybestbuys.com and they also sell other allergy products including my hoover. When I got it the Medivac company sold it themselves.

Also research on internet taking apple cider vinegar for allergies.

I had to research for DS allergies as everything the dr gave him he was allergic to!!

PS my house isn't that dust free any more and he has no trouble with it. It does improve as you make the changes. Having the medivac hoover meant we didn't have to worry about changing carpets etc.

Hi Sarah, I think you can prepay annually for prescriptions (a one off fee) that makes it cheaper if you get a lot. It's on the site here somewhere. I don't know much about 'cos I'm in NI and 'scripts are free currently.

Thanks, unfortunately we just got a new hoover (it has a hepa filter so is pretty good). Ive just bought some more pillow protectors to help and aiming to get my room sorted first as it is the room im worst in (my symptoms are more nose/throat/asthma related and itchy eyes/excessive sneezing etc). Going to look into blinds instead of old curtains but worried about how light it will be at night, i love a really dark room. Im subscribed to allergybestbuys so will have a look at what they have that might help :)

My eldest DD (4) knows my allergies are making me sick and that teddies etc wont help so she's picked 4 favourites and said i can get rid of the rest :) Love her.

We are planning to get Laminate in our hallway (6m2) as currently we have strips of carpet leftovers over the floor boards and have done for 4 years since we moved in :o There is so much that needs doing in this house!!

  • Hi guys, can I join in? Our current debt is £15300 so 1% is £153. Things are slow-going at the moment as we have a few big things we need to buy (a car and a laptop amongst other things!) so our spare cash isn't going towards debt at the moment and it's quite disheartening. I'm hoping taking the 1% point of view may motivate me not to fall off the rails.

    So:
    LITTLEMISSKITTY - 1% = £153
    [STRIKE]DFD 22/7/14[/STRIKE]:o:cry:
    OD £1200 ~ CC1 £1875 ~ CC2 £1275 ~ Tesco £4757 ~ Creation £235 ~ FIL £25750
    DEBT @ 28/03/2018 = £35092

    Hi Sarah,
Good luck with the new hoover!!
My DS had eczema and asthma. Both long gone now. The eczema started at a few weeks old and left completely by around age 9/10. The asthma started at age 7 and was officially diagnosed as gone by around 15 although it had been gone for a year before that diagnosis. Hoovering and dusting was a job he was never given as it made it so much worse. I feel for you having to do that it your house. Any chance hubby could take it over in exchange for you doing one of his chores?
Even if you could get a day or 2 every week without having to hoover or live with the dust, it makes such a difference.
I wish you the best of luck with getting over/ through it. It's extra pressure when trying to debt bust.
I read somewhere years ago that if you put teddies in the freezer overnight it kills the dustmites.
