well they've not paid the 5% am waiting on responses from them about this as had two conflicting messages, one stating that is because i had a flex direct less than 12 months before (but they have quoted the wrong upgrade date) and another stating that will send to the calculation team so am waiting on further clarification.

just a suggestion to others upgrading etc message them via the secure upgrade so you have it in writing that you are eligible for it again and have past the 12 months deadline!

well they have messaged me back, confirmed that there has been an error and as I was advised before I should be receiving the 5% they are getting it recalculated, updating the records and apologised for the confusion.

I believe that no DDs are required to qualify for the 5% rate, is this correct? Thanks in advance.

Nationwide's systems don't appear ready for someone opening ( or converting) accounts after a 1 year hiatus.

At least two people have reported on here that they got second helpings on 5% FlexDirects. I seem to recall somebody had to send an internal message to get the correct interest rate.
  • So banked with nationwide 4 years, I know from experience that they do a credit search on existing customers when they open a 2nd account but do they credit search also when accounts are upgraded?

I've just opened a new FlexDirect too, several days more than a year after closing the previous one. I did so through Quidco and by switching another non Nationwide account I don't really use using their switching service. Seems to be working well as I already have a FlexAccount (unused) the account appears online and the payee instructions from the other account. I also have my PIN for the debit card still to arrive.
