  • PS nationwide implies here that the FlexDirect is an "upgrade" here (i can't post links yet hence the dodgy formatting):

I would have thought an "upgrade" means you have all previous features plus more...

Self-inflicted loss of travel insurance, I am afraid. When you apply for the FlexDirect, you see:
If you're upgrading from FlexAccount to FlexDirect, the travel insurance and promotional offers that come with your FlexAccount will stop when you upgrade to FlexDirect. The way your overdraft is charged will also change. Please make sure you understand these important points before you upgrade.

They can't make this much clearer.

As you say, you can have both, a FlexAccount and a FlexDirect. If 'faffing' with monthly deposits is too much effort, just don't have a free travel insurance and a 5% interest account. Neither are compulsory.
  • Fair play, its my bad.. I made a rush decision to upgrade based on the sticker rate and didn't see these additional warnings.

Its not too difficult to handle both payments to be honest, just through some automated standing orders.

I'll definitely checkout the MSE forum and read more about bank account details before I commit.. just hurts to learn the hard way..

    Cheers

You could but it is not a substitute for the failure to read the T&Cs.

Any experience on how long paperwork takes to come through the post if that's what you're told when applying?

I applied early last week and still nothing. Can't for the life of me find the reference or account numbers that I wrote down - must be on the back of something else that has either been shredded or filed!

There is a helpline for new accounts but only until 8pm and I missed that tonight.

1-2 weeks. I waited a week and got the debit card/pin yesterday, still waiting for the online login details however

They just got their letter yesterday about the interest rate going down at the end of January :rotfl:
  • Applied for one of these accounts on Sunday as a joint application as we want to take advantage of the Flexclusive mortgage deals. We got accepted but have to wait for all the information to come through the post!

After phoning them as I was concerned I hadnt had any emails or anything confirming that we'd been successful I was told everything was fine but they needed to see girlfriends ID etc (didn't need to see mine as I have been a customer in the past).

If no letters turn up tomorrow i'll be popping into branch on Friday morning with our ID to see if we can expedite the process as I want to apply for our mortgage quick time!
  • Is there a forum on here for dementia sufferers? I came looking for this thread to see why i hadn't received a letter about my 5% ending in late January only to find this reminder!

Checked the filing cabinet, and Hey Presto! there it was. Only suffered 3 days at the reduced interest rate so could have been worse lol.
