I keep a flannel in the fridge to wipe me down - and placing it over my feet just before i go to bed. I find if my feet are cooled down the rest follows................
1 stepIf you wait for perfect conditions, nothing would ever get done! :T

I would love air con , my parents live in spain and its wonderful.
But for us I have a stack of clean flannels in the bathroom and when we become too hot we wipe down with one rinsed in cool water. I was them over night ready for the next day.0 -
If you have a normal fan, freeze some water in a container then place this infront of the fan and you have cheap air con and just change the containers for continuious cold air.
Stand the container on a cloth to stop drips.0 -
I have a little spritzer bottle from superdrug which sprays a very fine mist of water which I take with me when going out, I find it really helps to cool me down.Grocery budget in 2023 £2279.18/£2700Grocery budget in 2022 £2304.76/£2400Grocery budget in 2021 £2107.86/£2200Grocery budget in 2020 £2193.02/£2160Saving for Christmas 2023 #15 £ 90/ £3650

I just appreciate being hot. It doesn't go on long before we are all moaning about how cold we are, and how we can't afford to turn the heating on.
I am of "an age" too. So always sit under the sun umbrella when I am in the garden.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

A fan in the bedroom at night saves me from many a sleepless night in the summer although I have chronic insomnia anyway.
Fan on in the daytime if needed.
I shut the doors to the room in the sunny side of the house as the windows are sloping, so not covered.
You know those spray misters for plants? You know those spray misters for plants? When out and about, I spray myself with those, head and neck mainly. Indoors if possible.
I don't go outside till late afternoon, or even evenings.0 -

Just goes to show - one doesnt necessarily think of the blindingly obvious:o - I've been wondering where to find summat suitable to spray myself with and hadnt even thought of that one.....DUH!
Rosie has just reminded me of one of my main things - open windows early morning for the cool air then....wish it felt safe enough in my urban environment to leave downstairs windows/back door open whilst I'm not in the room...but I do what I can in that respect (ie leave the back door open whilst I cook my breakfast porridge - yeh, I know, I know....PORRIDGE in summertime:eek::D).
Just remembered to dig out my fan too - as in personal hold in the hand type fan (the old-fashioned sort - a la 18th Century - not the electric fan type..)0
