    Aww I'm under 35...so Boots don't want me? I feel excluded :(

While we're on the topic of Lush (roguey, your experience sounds awful, definitely complain!) I went in last week to get my Mum's Mother's day present (she loves Lush) and in front of the till were a pile of leaflets from some organisation - I forget who - who want to ban jump racing. The town I live in is hosting the mega big jump race week (I'm sure you horsey folk know the town), so I'm guessing they were tapping into that.

The leaflet had a very graphic photo on the front of a racing horse with a severely broken leg. I'm not squeamish but admit it turned my stomach a bit. I don't like horse racing so I guess I should support them but it just felt a bit out of place to me.

Anyway, what I didn't notice was that when the sales girl bagged up my gift, she put one of these leaflets into my bag. When I got home and put the bag down, my 2 year old started rummaging through it and pulled out the leaflet. She was very upset to say the least at the 'hurt horsey' :(. I don't believe in wrapping kids up in cotton wool but there are some things they shouldn't see. I'm annoyed aswell.

I would write a severe complaint letter to their head office over that! How dare they force their politics on customers! Bad enough they've got stuff like that on display in store but to put it in your bag where your little girl found it is unforgiveable!

I've heard enough, I'm not going into Lush again. I have two HG products from there but I'll find replacements from somewhere else, I'm not supporting this behaviour!

  • I don't post here much because I don't use make up (or only once in a blue moon). However I have been inspired to use up most of my cleansing products as I have so many half used ones. I finished a deodrant and hair conditioner. Have nearly finished a body lotion. I really like the feeling of using things up and getting out another half used item.
I bought a Boots own brand shampoo but it made my scalp itchy so I will use it as handwash or body wash as I hate throwing things out. Has anybody else found this - it's the blue one at 60p.

On the issue of LUSH. I don't use them much as I live in a village and the nearest shop is 25 miles away. I do remember being impressed when the Starbucks and Amazon tax thing came out and it showed that LUSH pay all their taxes in the UK and don't use creative accounting to hide profits overseas. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Firstly thanks for all the birthday wishes. I've had a fab weekend. I do have some ins, but will list them later.

More importantly I have two uus :j
    Naked Bounce conditioner - WBA
Naked Bounce Shampoo - WBA but would maybe try one for normal hair instead.

This also means I am down to 1 conditioner! :j:j:j
Most of the shampoos I cant use because they irrate my scalp far too much that people must think I have headlice the way I scratch! :rotfl:

    On another note..
I am absolutely disgusted at all the bad experiences you have had from lush! I havent been into lush for a long time, but have never had a bad experience (although ever so slightly pushy as you all say).
Surely they are not allowed to put graphic things like that in their store?
It is a business. So the more they act like that, the more customers they will lose, and the more complaints they have may make them realise they need to change. There are other places that will sell similar products online somewhere. (It is nice to have a browse in a store I know).
Anyways thats my little rant. :p

Was just wondering if anyone could think of any other uses for spot gels? I have so many of these about, but I use prescribed one now so they'll never get used.

Noting the recent posts I feel that good customer service is so important and will lead me to repeat patronisation.

Lush - I had a period of a couple of years when so many ingredients would bring me out in a weeping red rash, the hospital tests gave me a few pointers, but were not too detailed. My nearest Lush store then was the one in Taunton, Somerset and the staff there were superb, they would give me good sized samples to take away and try and offer advice as to what would be the most suitable, for that reason several of their products became HG's to me. It is only now that there is no shop in easy reach that I have found alternative products. It may be because I am older, but in any store I have been into, the staff have left me alone, on request, to browse. I am outside their usual demograhic age range, my older Grandchildren are the age of a lot of the SA's.

My local BS staff were very pushy and I stopped going in, waiting until I was in another town to buy.

I think Tokkiandoliver will have a wealth of information from here to take back to management. BTW I think putting the information about the injured race horses in customers purchases without asking is inappropriate, that is not to say that I wholly endorse the racing industry, a lot of work is being done on welfare, as in other walks of life I am sure their is room for improvement, (I have never owned a horse or been to a race meeting!)

    Another couple of OUTs

13 - UU some random soap. Maybe Lush, maybe not. It had lost its colour and scent. Ooops. :o
14/15 - GA two sachets of sanctuary face serum and face mask to my Mum...
16 - ...and a sachet of royal ballet body lotion to my Mum too. I often post her little things. I had tried another sachet of this and wasn't overly impressed.
    Cookie, I think you're tame. :heart2:

Hammyham - hope you resisted the TSV. I put £5 in my sealed pot challenge every time I resist a TSV - have added £5 today. Last year I had about £80 in there from resisted TSVs which if I am honest gave me more pleasure than trying to cram another bottle/product into the stash..

Looks like I won't have INs this month as without realising my Amarya box sub has ended. :(. Am undecided whether to resub or not.

And a couple of OUTs -

Bare Minerals buxom lip- gloss - Lola - good shade but have tons of lip products still in the stash (213 to be precise) so not rushing out to replace any time soon

Elizabeth Arden eight hour tinted lip protectant - honey - TA - this was ages old, has never suited me so have been ruthless - lippie stash now at 212 and counting...

Re the Lush debate - we must be lucky as our Lush is really friendly but not overbearing/pushy to make a sale and we have never been lectured over animal rights or anything like that. Both DDs have been to parties there and have really enjoyed them.
