Forget 0870, at least they only cost 7.5p at peak times. I've just sat in a queue whilst phoning an 0871 750 number at 10p a minute. This is the latest way they're making us pay.0

You're spot on Jo2 - 0871 are bad news too. Worse still, now that Ofcom has announced plans to reduce the cost of 0870 numbers to geographical rates, we are seeing organisations migrate to 0871 so they can maintain the revenue they make on our calls
If you have a view on this then why not let Ofcom have it (!) as part of their current review of telephone numbering . Simply email NumberingReview@ofcom.org.uk before Thu May 25. Ofcom's proposals sound good but when you look closely you realise they leave numerous loopholes that allow the overpriced and misleading non-geographic numbers rip-off to continue just like above  :mad:0 -
I have just phoned NTL's freephone no. They have announced their "new 0845 number" to phone next time. As usual I was phoning with a problem and held, got transferred and waited 20 minutes. Will customers really hold for often 30 minutes at the "local rate" of 5p per minute!!!0
