Here in Spain, we have a dish called 'carne con tomate' It's cubes of cooked pork simmered in a tomatoey herby garlic sauce. If I'm starting with raw meat I do mine in the slow cooker0

hi all, thanks for all the ideas, we eventually (after much discussion!) decided on pork schnitzels with tomato pasta. It was very nice, especially since DH cooked it! Thanks all:D0

Hi all,
I have, a huge joint of pork. it's 3 and a half kilos worth.
Tomorrow, I will be making a roast dinner for six of us.
What can I do with the rest of it?
I should be able to stretch this for a couple of days at least, but I'm not a huge fan of pork so don't know what to do with it really LOL.
Nobody likes it in sandwiches incidentally  Fussy eaters!
This thing cost me £8 odd......and you know what the worst thing is? I don't remember buying it. I have no clue how long it's been there. we're not even great fans of pork. Why. Just why. LOL.
So yeah. Eight quids worth of pork........I need my moneys worth :rotfl:Proud to be dealing with my debts :T

Hi Hawthorn
With large joints I slice once cooked, serve what is needed on the day and then portion the rest for the freezer (plus gravy in tubs) and have as other roast dinners. We are fortunate though that we do like pork!

I cooked it on Tuesday.
So far, we have had, a pork dinner, pork and chips, chinese pork stir fry, and pork sandwiches.
For six people at a time.
Tonight, I will be using the last of it as a shepherds pie kind of thing. I'm going to dig my mincer out and add veggies and gravy and serve it with mash!
Not bad, for £8 huh? :rotfl:Proud to be dealing with my debts :T

Thanks Pink.
I suspect strongly I will never eat pork again after this week LMAO.
We also cheated for eldest. He's a funny eater, so when I made the chinese pork stir fry last night, we washed out an old takeaway tub and put his in there. When he came home, we told him we'd saved him our chinese and he ate the lot ROFL.
If he thought I'd cooked it, he wouldn't have eaten it. Picky so and so. Just goes to show it isn't my cooking that's the problem thoughProud to be dealing with my debts :T

We had a lovely leg of pork for Sunday roast but didn't use it all. I cut up the leftovers into small pieces and froze them, thinking I'd use them later. Now I'm trying to decide what to make with them. My daughter commented that she doesn't like leftover pork as it tends to be dry and I know what she means.
Can any oldstylers help me with a recipe please?somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0
