As the OP was on holiday when discovering funds were now flowing, it is possible that a reason for it all will be waiting on the doormat when they get home.No debts. No credit cards. No store cards. No mortgage. No CCJs. High credit rating intact. Living frugally. Want to start business soon. Trying to keep head above water; while standing on own feet; staying within the law; and not falling into debt. Looking to raise income, who isn't?0

I'm home and nothing from Natwest other than 3 more letters saying direct debits not been met!!! I find this absolutely scandalous that they haven't even bothered to contact me to tell me my account is back in action. I know I found out on Wednesday through checking my app but still disgusting in my opinion.0 -
I guess we will never know the real reason.
It's not that I am saying that it's impossible to find out. What I mean is that they will use their routine fobbing off tactic and the OP will have no guts to challenge them.
I'd be happy to be proven wrong and stand corrected.
They will no doubt use the old "fobbing off" tactic but I have already raised a complaint and will be going into the branch on Monday morning to have it out with the manager. Not much more I can do!0 -
...but they are obliged to refund any charges that will have been incurred. The OP should also ask for compensation for the inconvenience caused.
I will be demanding that any charges are reversed of course. Realistically though, what are the chance they will give compensation and how will I go about claiming it?0 -

I have only seen this case today but have read through the entries. I really hope that you do find out the story behind it and get appropriate compensation. I would have been really stressed if this had happened to me. Very Kafkaesque!0

Make sure that they sort everything out with the DD originators - including the missed/late payments that might have been reported to the CRAs.
When you say make sure they sort everything out, do you mean that they contact the originators to arrange to take payment again? If so wouldn't this be dangerous because if they didn't sort it ill have missed payments whereas I could just call on Monday and make the payments with my card?
It's a pity that it took you so long to find something that was obvious from the very start. Well done with raising a complaint at last. Take it to FOS if needed.
I raised the complaint a week ago last Thursday. Not sure how long they have to respond.0 -

I'm obviously relieved to have my account back but the stress I caused me is beyond explanation. It may sound extreme but I didn't eat properly for 2 of the 3 weeks, couldn't function properly at work as I could think of nothing else and this also affected my sleep. I will be going into the branch on Monday morning first thing. If I don't get a genuine apology and/or compensation I will be closing my account with them. Not that they'll care too much, I'm not a wealthy guy, but it'll make me feel better knowing they've lost my custom.0 -

8 weeks, then you have the right to escalate to the Financial Ombudsman Service, who could take months to make a decision (I've been in the queue with them for almost a year now). You also have the right to escalate to FOS if you don't like NatWest's final response.
Chances are it'll be resolved far more quickly than 8 weeks, but no doubt it won't be instant, especially given their likely inability to say anything beyond "standard checks".urs sinserly,
