In my former job I dealt with suspected fraud cases at the "request" of HMRC (VAT probs) and the police, and believe me they go through everything with a fine toothcomb.

I'm not suggesting your account is harbouring any type of fraud, just saying it does take time.

The other thing is - do you have a foreign surname that might be the same/similar to one on a "wanted" list re money laundering, fraud or terrorism ?

On the other hand there is always the chance that your account was blocked by mistake and nobody at the bank is dealing with it. Do you have a contact who has confirmed they are looking at the account ?

I have only spoken to the manager in branch and somebody on the phone in the complaints department and they say the same things "we are unable to give you any information".

No my surname, whilst not a common name, isn't foreign so can't see that it will be that. The only thing it could be is Paypal deposits into my account which I accept will take them time to look through. I've not committed fraud or laundered any money so I shall just have to wait for them to go through their processes, frustrating as it is!

...There is nothing the OP can do to speed up this investigation.
The OP can complain - and should have done this a week ago IMO. Many people need regular kicks in their asses to do their job properly.

Yes, the OP can complain. I think the OP is intelligent enough to have worked this out for himself.

And of course you still insist that it was a correct decision. This doesn't surprise me.

Why don't you make one Paypal transfer every month or two instead of 15 - 20 per month. That's bound to cause suspicion. It's likely not the cause of this fiasco but if you want to use your personal account for business it's not a good idea to make it obvious.

Where have i said this ?

No-one here can say why the account has been frozen, only Natwest have that information. We're all speculating, all you're doing, as usual, is bank bashing. We all know you think bank staff are the scum of the earth, no need to keep reminding us.

Perhaps Benog has more sense than to go into the bank, be told the situation (that the bankcannot discuss matters) and start ranting and repeating themselves and ignoring the advice/information they have been given.

From what they have posted here they come across to me as reasonable and intelligent. Possibly knowing that there is no point in railing at the individuals that have the job of communicating the limits of what they can say and do.

It is possible that Benog would have reason in the future to interact with the personnel at the bank and they have the foresight to know that should there be a situation in the future where an employee of the bank is in a postition to be flexible, that they will get further if they don't at this time alienate them by grumbling and antagonising people by getting all kick-asses.

Nobody here suggested to complain about the branch staff individuals that indeed were just powerless 'communicators'.
It's the procedure in general and the 'investigators' in particular that deserve to be complained about.

More ignorance. I guess not acquainting yourself with knowledge leaves you free to troll the boards and get your jollies. Good for you. It's a free hobby.

You implied this by saying that the OP was intelligent enough and knowing that the OP didn't complain.

I suggested complaining from the very start.
