congratulations to you too msmoneypeneyplease, looks like we will be due at the same time as the websites give me a date of 20th Feb too!

Told my mum today, oh my, she screamed the house down, followed by a load of tears followed by the biggest hug ever that I had to pull away as I couldn't breathe!!! Safe to say she was happy! Its her first grandchild. We then went out for a drink and lunch in our local m&s and had a good old natter. Will not be telling anyone else now until 12 weeks.

I have a doctors appointment on the 1st July, do you think I should phone back and say I am pregnant and should I book a midwife appointment? I really didn't know what to do so just ask the receptionist for a doctors appointment. I might just pop in on Monday after work as I need to change my name on their system too - still in my maiden name!
Proud mummy to an amazing 8 year old!

Mrs Bunny I'd ring up and check what they do at your surgery as here you see the doctor they give you a phone number to ring when you are about 7 weeks to book your 12 week scan. They didn't do any pregnancy tests of their own or take bloods. Then you have your scan and don't actually see the mw until you are 17 weeks gone. As it's my 2nd child she won't see me again until 28 weeks, whereas with my first I'm sure I had a 21 and 25 week mw appointment as well.

I'd give the surgery a quick ring and see what they say as some people see a mw some see a dr.

Mrs Bunny think it varies but might be worth finding out what happens in your area. Everyone's seems to be so different.

I have had a letter confirming they believe I am 6+4 on Tuesday so that makes me 7+1 today. There was some definate confusion but I have another scan on the 4th July 2013 so hopefully that will confirm the dates further.

I have just come back from Ikea - woah how I didn't vomit in there. My partner is re doing our bathroom and I just wanted to pick the stuff and leave but no such luck he wanted to check every blinking thing more than once so I got a bit snappy- wish I hadn't but I was literally about to heave. All home now and nibbling on my Ginger buscuits.

My midwife appointment is not until Monday 15th July which seems ages away. I had it booked for Monday but it was done wrong so it was only 15 minutes and this is the next one!! I am hoping that leaves them enough time to get me my 12 week scan. I will be 10 weeks ish.

MrsBunny - lovely reaction from your Mum. :)

Fran-0- hope your not suffering too much today xx

Thank you vic! I will get some kids toothpaste next time I go shopping. :)

MrsBunny, I had a telephone appointment with my GP who then referred me to the midwife. I've got an appointment on the 9th July for my booking in appointment. I got my maternity notes and some leaflets in the post today. I will be 9 weeks before I see somebody face-to-face!

Glad your mum was so happy! My mum keeps texting me random daily 'advice' Yesterday was "Make sure you take folic acid" Today was "I've been looking at prams... ;)" and then later "REST!" This will be her 6th grandchild.

We're living with my parents til the house sale goes through so I'm getting lots of useful advice/told off for not drinking enough water lol it's nice to be fussed over though, DH is rather laid back so doesn't say much although I know he worries

I'm lucky in that I haven't actually vomited yet but feel very nauseous and hungovery in the mornings. Had a hangover for two weeks now which is so not fair cos I've not had a drop in at least two months lol x

  • Hi everyone, hope you're having a nice (albeit rainy) Sunday! We're off to a birthday party later - one of DD's little friends is turning 3 - so should be good fun. We were at another 3rd birthday yesterday - she's quite the little socialite! (She is only 19 months old !)

I have finally gone off tea and coffee - got some decaf teabags in my Bounty pack so going to try those later. I had a lovely lie in til 9 this morning ... felt so nice to wake up naturally and bless DH for getting up with LO.

TL a hangover is exactly how I'd describe the way I've been feeling, although I usually feel like I've been out partying til 3am too despite going to bed at 10 most nights! Spearmint polos are great for taking the icky taste away, although I can munch through a whole pack in few mins :rotfl: I try to clean my teeth instead as it both distracts me for a few mins and makes me feel a bit fresher!

Birdie85 I keep waking up at 5.30 with a horrible hollow feeling in my tummy, like hunger but not quite, I have a couple of bites of banana and few sips of water which helps

Faerie and Mrs Bunny bless your mums, lovely that they're so excited
  • I told my Mum yesterday at lunch. She was over the moon. Cried a little then could not stop laughing and smiling!! Then got carried away with names, which room would be the babies etc!! I'm so glad I told her. She told me all about her pregnancies early on. Was lovely! She was fit to burst with excitement!! She reckons we should tell my hubby's parents too as they are desperate to be grandparents and would be so happy to be let in on the little secret! I mentioned fear of miscarriage but she said we'd want their support anyway if that happened. Well speak to my hubby about it.

Mrs Bunny-I would call Docs back and tell receptionist that your pregnant and ask her the next step. My Dr didn't want me to come in but rather phone midwife services.

I have very metallic taste in my mouth today. Glad in a way as its a reminder that hormones are kicking in. :rotfl:

Have a relaxing day everyone. Xxx

mince pie monster - what a busy social life your daughter has - busier than mine!

I haven't told that many people as I want the 12 weeks out of the way. I live in a house with an annex and my Mum lives in there. I am sure she knows something is going on as I have been resting a lot and I have been drinking tea just so she doesn't suspect. LOL. OH Mum will literally jump off the ceiling when we tell her so we were going to wait until the scan at 12 weeks ish. Seems so long away when I am 7+2!

I have found a release for my sickness. Its marmite. It has seemed to help me quite a lot over the last few days. I feel sick but I have been able to function a lot better today. I made sausage mash last night and the veg and mash were lovely but the sausages

I have cleaned all upstairs of our house and I have put some washing on so seems the right time to sit down with some marmite on toast.

On another note I have been reading the thread up from this 12-24 weeks and a lady called sweaty betty (I think thats right) has lost one of her twins. I feel compelled to lurk because I just want to wish her well and all hope that twin 2 holds in for the long haul. Life is cruel sometimes. :(

Sam - Life is very cruel sometimes and the death of a child is something you can not even begin to imagine unless you have been there. A story like that puts things into perspective for people. I really feel for her. It all happened so quickly yet her posts come across as being so calm. I have no doubt she is dying inside but like you, I am just hoping that baby 2 stays in there for atleast another week. I can't keep off the thread just incase she updates us.

Anway, hope you are all doing well. I still lurk on this thread as much as the other one! Looking forward to seeing you all over there soon.

    Lily xx
