There are no extra costs for an LLU transfer out-a return to donor with BT is free, but does require a 12m line rental contract.

I think I've nearly got my head around all of this with your help, thanks.

A - Hypothetically, if I just wanted to switch either one of line rental or broadband to another LLU provider, whilst leaving either the Sky line rental or broadband in place (e.g. Sky line rental with O2 broadband or TalkTalk line rental with Sky broadband), would that still count as an LLU to LLU transfer?

B - And, again hypothetically, if I wanted to retain Sky line rental and switch to broadband from a non-LLU provider like Plusnet, would that count as an LLU to non-LLU transfer?

    Cheers,
    TE

You can't have line rental with Sky and broadband with another provider, LLU.
Plusnet broadband requires a line to be on the BT network-so either with BT or a BT reseller.

No, they're giving you a new line, to get around the LLU to LLU direct transfer issue.

So am I LLU or non-LLU with sky?

Will I be LLU or non-LLU with talk talk?

Does it matter to me what I am?

If I've understood correctly, your Sky package is LLU and because you are changing to another LLU package with TalkTalk, they can't do this without 'installing' a new phone line and allocating you a new number, (although if they weren't cheap and nasty they might be able to port the existing number). the need for the new line means you can't get the voucher, so the switch is less lucrative and could potentially involve more hassle with the more complicated connection process.

It depends if those suppliers are LLU'd for your exchange or not-LLU is not universal-it's exchange specific. A quick exchange search on www.samknows.com will tell you which providers have an LLU presence on your exchange. Or post your exchange name and someone will check.

Well. I've spent 1/2 hour trying to cancel this. No luck so far due to system not working at talk talk! I can't bear wasting time going into details but what had started as a simple thing has got ridiculously complicated. Fed up with being told different things very couple of days and am going to cancel. I knew it was risky but wanted to try. Oh and they now say I do not qualify for the cashback, which is the last straw.

Right-so you have no LLU providers on your exchange. Sky Connect is just a resold BT Wholesale service.

They are both resold BT Wholesale products, and neither are recommended. I'd look at Plusnet.
