Hi all,
I've managed to install tomtom on the phone and it runs fine. the one problem I am having is that because the lobster hasn't got a touch screen you have use the keypad to navigate tomtom, I haven't figured out which buttons do what via the keypad.
Also before you can install any software on the phone you need perform something called "application unlock" you only have to do this once.
Virgin when they shipped the phone, they setup the phone so that you can not install any software on it that is not "signed". Instructions on how to remove the application lock can be found here:

finally figured how to use tomtom via keypad!!!!
I basically learnt through trial and error.
works really well.
I've now got two phones capable of tomtom!!!
I'll probably give this lobster phone with tomtom and built-in DAB radio to my brother in law as a present!!!
Not a bad deal for £40 - 200mins - DAB radio - 5 TV channels for 90 days after which you only get BBC1 - and phone is tomtom capable providing you purchase a 256mb memory card, a gps receiver and tomtom software

Can someone help please? I can't seem to get quidco to work with the link? thanks0
-
Ok, couldn't wait any longer, so went ahead anyway without quidco.0

After a problem with my card i phoned up, explained, woman said she could reorder straight away and that the other one had automagically cancelled, i said i'd do it at home (thinking quidco), and she said fine, so that was that. Ordered around 6pm yesterday, it arrived before midday today!
Thanks for the tomtom link, that'll be super useful
Should the phone not be to my liking, it might in 90 days appear on an auction site, depending on how good the DAB radio is, in the same way I'd consider the same if buying from a store via an offer not seen on MSE.as i have another phone, this isn't essential to my needs, but if it has tv and tomtom then who knows

Hi
Thanks to the OP.
I have just received my Lobster and am most impressed with it. I was a little concerned about the shape but its not a big problem, after all I have one of those Nokia 3650's when they came out and a 7600.
I am very impressed with it and it is well worth the price. The 200 free minutes comes as vouchers which is great as you could use it with any virgin sim I presume..
Shame I can't get TV in my area though I knew this before. My mum and dad can and they are only 2 miles away so I will try the TV there.
Radio is great. I can only get 6 channels here again but they are crystal clear.
The screen is super sharp and the camera seams very good aswell.
I am off now to play with it for a while so thanks again to the OP.Its better to be late in this life than early in the next one.

HI All
I Have just spoken to virgin and ordered this phone for my son, just wanted a really cheap phone as they either get broken or lost with my teenager, so i asked how much this phone was reconditioned which is basically the very same phone, thoroughly checked with brand new casing etc. but without the free minuites etc and i have paid £19.99 so i am well chuffed.
I always go for the reconditioned phones as you can buy a top graded phone for less than half the price and you always get a 6 month gaurantee, you just need to ask virgin which recon phones they have in stock and take your pick.0 -
got mine, good phone quite solid but i cant really hear other ppl on the line, got a free unlocking code as well. nice kit!0
