Just to bring the whole matter to a conclusion - my brother is now very happy with what the Halifax have offered him and he and the bank staff have a good working relationship.

As for Nat West, he submitted his complaints to the Business Recovery Unit who in turn forwarded it to the Complaints dept. He has had a lovely letter back from them full of apologies agreeing that he was let down with no one contacting him any earlier. They even sent him a nice cheque to compensate him - we all had an indian take away on it!

So things have resolved themselves in the way my brother wanted. By the way he has arranged to repay the overdraft off (without any further interest being added) with small monthly payments.

So there you go, to get anywhere in life you have to try and retain control of a situation over the other person.

What happens when he doesn't get his own way about something though?

I stiil suspect the OP is a troll, nobody could be so desperate to set themselves up like this, surely?

EDIT Perhaps the OP is staged by the British Banking Association to encourage support for the poor beleagured banks?
