So I was thinking, if I could set up his Sky ID and account and everything for him to set it going, can this device be used from then on without my Dad having to use the internet? Basically, can he purchase the occasional Sports one-day-pass through the NowTV Box itself? Is this what the "purchase PIN" allows. If he has to purchase the passes via the internet then this is no good for him. My Mum is the only one who uses the internet at their house but I want something that my Dad can use on his own without my Mum (or me) having to purchase passes online every time he wants to watch the football.

    Thanks

Well from our friend google (really is useful) I found this, does it answer the question of " can he purchase the occasional Sports one-day-pass through the NowTV Box itself? "
  • I'm trying to sign up for free month trial but it seems to be asking je for £4.99 for the month

What is the voucher code for a free month

    Thanks

Am I correct in thinking that whilst there's HD on some of the On Demand, there's no HD for the live channels streaming (from a NowTV box)?

I'd be interested to get it for the latest (not previous seasons) Games of Thrones but if there's no HD, that's not worth it.

The free trial is on the Movies package valued at £8.99 a month. Not on the entertainment package at £4.99.

The Now TV box hardware can only output at 720.

If you get the more expenseive Roku box it can output in 1080 but I don't know if Now TV streams 1080 or not.
  • I've just ordered the little £10 Now TV box, which I want purely to watch catch-up TV - I'm not interested in Sky or films or anything else, just (eg) BBC iPlayer etc.

The box seemed to be all I would need, but at the end of the ordering process it says I will need to have some kind of subscription package to get it to work.

Is this true? If so, which is the cheapest bet for what I need ? (or should I cancel?)

It may all become clear once the box arrives, but I've started worrying!

I've got 2 NowTV boxes - the first I bought just to try as we'd cancelled our Sky subscription and the second one I bought when Argos were doing a half-price deal with 6 months entertainment voucher.

Unless there are any free entertainment codes around at the moment, you will need to pay the £4.99 for the first month as you can't register and create the set-up without having an active account.
Once you have an active account you can choose to no longer pay anything by cancelling the 'voucher renewal'. You will still be able to watch catch-up on BBCiplayer, 40D, 5 on Demand & ITVplayer TOTALLY FREE.

I'm not that impressed with ITVplayer on NowTV as it only seems to have one or two episodes of Emmerdale or Coronation Street for you to catch-up on... there doesn't even seem to be a week's worth of 'catch-up' BUT it has only just been added to NowTV's watching menu.

You will still be able to watch for free after you stop making any payments!

Get the month's free trial for films and then cancel after a short while. ( I gave an hour , but you could probably do it straight away.) Then it costs you nothing. I have done this twice.
