Thanks KTF & DragonQ. 2% isn't abysmal seeing the new rates that are coming out now. So I guess that if nothing better comes along I can buy myself some time until something does without losing so much.

With Nationwide you only really have one Cash ISA. What you and me call different ISAs are really just separate account pots in the one cash ISA. So you can transfer money internally between these pots as much as you like (as long as you don't breach T&Cs or try to transfer into fixed rate pots).

With the online accounts you can just do the transfer online. If you transfer everything your Online ISA account will go to £0. You can then ask them to close this by sending them a secure message. (It won't close automatically in case you wanted to transfer some money back some day!)

It is deeply concerning when people on the internet know far more about it than NW do!! ;)

If the balance has increased its worked. Transactions normally show the next working day.
Did you do a transfer from an Online ISA account today?

Thanks David. Yes it was nearly 11k from an online isa issue 6 , left just over £1 in it so the interest earned so far will go into it later in the year and then I will close it.

Thx bondy01. Perhaps you have helped to to show that the online transfer process works very well.

Btw I hope you meant transfer your interest out again, rather than close it.

The last time I did something similar, I left £10 in then filled in a paper "account consolidation" form to get this transfered along with closing interest separately.

Has anyone managed to get Nationwide to accept a request to transfer an old ISA into this account, with a transfer date of May 1st?

I completed the paperwork yesterday and the branch initially accepted it. However today they have called me to say that as May 1st is their cut off date they will not process it.

I know some people have asked this before on the thread, however I can't see anyone saying that they were successful in their application.

My Santander ISA matures on May 1st, which is why I am asking this.

Oh right! The letter I received said that all application had to be recieved by May, which is a bit missleading.

    Thanks for your reply tho.

Do show them the letter and ask if they can process the transfer. If they won't process it (send it off to head office for processing), you could try going to a different branch who may be more flexible.

I managed to get around my problem, Santander have agreed to switch my fixed ISA to their Direct ISA saver (Issue 1). They said I can do this as my Fixed ISA matures in under 30 days.

This account allows transfers out without penalty, which means I can transfer now rather then wait until May 1st.

Hmh, this sounds very unbureaucratic - - but did it cost you in the interest rate they pay?
