BT Direct Debit, How To Beat It

As it has been mentioned already, it's not something new from BT and when setting up a telephone line with them you are told there and then if you pay by DD you have a reduction as opposed to monthly paper billing. (I used to work for BT)
That was the old service now you dont get a discount but some get a charge.0 -
I have a letter from the assistant to the Director and Chief executive of BT.
It states that "BT does not feel a £4.50 payment processing fee is justified".
I am in the process of reclaiming this money, but since it is only £4.50 can I also reclaim any legal fees (charges for small claims proceedings)??
Any thoughts??0 -
A quick thought that someone may be able to help me with.
As BT are allowed to charge a 'payment processing fee' of £4.50 are we as consumers allowed to charge BT a reasonable 'payment processing fee' ourselves if we're doing all the work in paying online. It's essentially costing us money to pay it, Cost of PC, internet connection, electricity, time spent etc.
Any thoughts?0 -

hell, you are asking for trouble with that (missed that comment - didnt see there was a page 2!)
surely, as your "senior level" BT staff, that you realise any accessing of customers account without directly speaking to the customer and going through regular validation is a violation of privacy and security, especially if you change anything on them!
The only way you wouldnt get pulled for it (as everything is logged) is if your an offline team dealing with an open complaint or responding to customer mail....which im doubting you are
if something goes wrong with what you've done or planning to do you'd definately get a ticking off
CSS does not leave a footprint.BT is my speciality :rotfl:

pay using online banking? I was arguing this morning with a BT advisor that I want to pay other ways than monthly DD and she said I couldn't but if I did then it would be a restricted service...
where do I get BT payment card from ? hubby has just phone up BT and they said we have to cancel DD ?
Yes Bt is now on to this scam and will charge you the Payment Processing Fee if you have a DD and pay by other means and a contact is added to your account to say that you have been warnedBT is my speciality :rotfl:

Time for more and more people to move their calls away from BT, the only way they are going to listen is when people move their calls away and tell them why they are doing it. The greedy ####.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -

Where did you get that information?
A senior BT person said it could not be done but I have been doing it ages.
