BT Direct Debit, How To Beat It

I've had Sky take money when they shouldn't and from an old account which had only pennies in, I simply called the bank, they sorted it out there and then and sorted any overdrawn charges, sorted it all out.
I'm just lazy and prefer to do everything via DD. I do ensure I have more than enough money in my account to cover payments, just that Sky decided to take payment from an old account.
I work odd hours too. Other than this issue I had, don't know anyone who's had problems with DD.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
Paying by standing order when Very skint and robbing peter to pay paul enables me to put payments back a few days to avoid scandalous bank charges. You can't do that with direct debits.
So bt are raking it in with charging people who don't pay by dd, people who do but pay late get charged £7.50, and for entering into a contract you didn't even know about it appears they charge you between £90 and £150 to get out of it.
Three cheers for BT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
eslick, you, and everyone I know, has had a problem with DD, payments being taken twice, taken after cancelled etc.
Can you tell me about anyone you know who has, via internet banking, paid a bill twice or paid more after they have finished doing business with a company?
This is why DD is flawed. It costs me time and money organising all the mistakes, phoning banks, call centres, queues, going into my branch (I work odd hours, my spare time is between 1am and 6am).
I dont need the guarantee with internet banking, it's inbuilt
valid points my issue came about because we paid originally by credit cardand it was only when we set up a direct debit that we had the issue, the NT said they would have charged our credit card in the same way as they did with the direct debit but it was easier to take it by debiting our account.
Still like direct debit though, even though I use internet banking nearly every day to check the balance I would forget to pay one bill and end up with more problems, with direct debit I am sure all of our bills paid on time salary comes in direct debits come out and then whats left is left.
Not everyone likes them and as mentioned previously I dont agree with charges for not paying by direct debit but then again I dont like the idea of TV licence charging for direct debit either.0
