I work at a senior level within BT customer services./

Private me your details and i'll arrange to look in to it. Inc a contact mobile number.

If your concerned about privacy, just included the number your having problems with and your contact number.

hell, you are asking for trouble with that (missed that comment - didnt see there was a page 2!)

surely, as your "senior level" BT staff, that you realise any accessing of customers account without directly speaking to the customer and going through regular validation is a violation of privacy and security, especially if you change anything on them!

The only way you wouldnt get pulled for it (as everything is logged) is if your an offline team dealing with an open complaint or responding to customer mail....which im doubting you are

if something goes wrong with what you've done or planning to do you'd definately get a ticking off

    £1.50 = Monthly X 12 per year

    £4.50 = Quarterly X 4 per year

Yes it costs three times as much to process a quarterly bill !!!!!!! But I can't follow the logic.

Course it does ! there's more numbers to add up.

Just had my next bill below £10 should have been a little more as I paid slightly over last month but this time I have paid the exact amount.

Still no mention of any charge for not paying by direct debit even thou I paid using online banking.

I am going to track when the account goes to paid to see how long it takes.

OK my bill changed to paid in one day using online banking and still no £1.50 charge.

That's two bills paid now using this loop hole.

So if online banking only takes a day that should give me nearly two weeks grace to pay the bill before direct debit kicks in, may cover a holiday ect.

Thanks BT for the discount or should that be a charge.
As this is a new fee, it begs the question of "Is it legal?"

It may be legal but in my opinion it should not be, get charged what it costs but not charge some figure they pull out of a hat or should that be a board meeting.

I'll drink to that  .
If i could i would, but i cannot so i wont, but maybe one day i will.

It would be nice for someone to test the system using another payment method.
Payment Card works a treat as well, no Payment Processing Fee.
If saved £2710 and only spent the interest (Based on a return of 5%), you would have enough money to pay your TV Licence every year. Saving you £7452.50 over a period of 55 years, based on you buying a license from the age of 20 until your 75 at a cost of £135.50.

I budget better with a weekly Standing Order to BT for telephone. I truly dislike DD's. Quarterly bill now shows the £4.50 Payment processing fee and I was in Credit after all charges deducted.

Have emailed off a complaint - but have any othe MSE's out there have any ideas how I can try to address this issue as many other pensioners etc must be paying by Standing Order?

Apologies for not reading all preceeding posts (In case I has missed some advice) but got an appointment to flee too.

Sign up for direct debit but make sure your account is paid in full before the direct debit is called for.

I have done it with online banking and as others have said it works with a payment card, the worst that can happen is they take the part of the bill that has not been paid with the direct debit.

The only other issue as I can see is if you dispute the bill as you will not be able to stop the direct debit.

I notice that BT have also found a loophole in the VAT regulations the £4.50 has 0%VAT applied. So we can all reduce prices to our customers and pay less VAT and call the difference a payment charge! What a clever idea.
