Katiechoc - thanks for the reply, the soft play centres near me have baby sections too. I think I'm definatley going to start taking him :D I'm glad George enjoys it too. He loves his little ball pit at home so I bet he will love going. He was absolutely worn out after swimming :o he sleep all the way home then slept for another 3 hours in the afternoon before calling it a day at 7.30pm!

cake4brains, has your phone got internet/wi-fi? Next time, create a dropbox account, get the app and set your album to backup automatically into your dropbox folder. The folder is private by default, but you could also share subfolders with people if you want to.

It works like a folder in your computer, just copy and paste files or move them there. In the phone, it's an app, you just select the pics, choose "share > Dropbox" and they upload there. You do not have to open any website and upload files, which I find annoying. I share a folder with all my family, so when I put pictures in there, they all get a pop up in their computers when they switch them on saying I have new pictures in there. My phone has a setting where I could just automatically send pictures to whatever folder I choose (which could be just a private one) every time I take a picture. It's free, you start with some basic number of Megabytes, and it increases if you invite people. Have a look.

Dry skin / craddle cap: I started using olive oil, but then I was told that it stays on the surface and it does not penetrate well. I changed to sunflower oil, which worked better. I used E45 which made no difference. I now use something the doctor prescribed, it's a massive tub, so it will last ages: Hydromol cream, as moisturiser, and Oilatum junior for the bath. The skin is great but the craddle cap is still there!

Toys: Mine is 12 weeks tomorrow and has no real interest in toys but is fascinated by our faces and the TV. She started smiling back (social smile) really early, but toys do not interest her at all. She grabbed a rattle yesterday for first time, and just because I put it on her hand!! She does grab the muslin often, she reached for my face this week a few times and she does "gugugu" noises constantly since the end of week 10. She "talks" to the cat in the gym mat, but still does not reach for anything, and if she kicks something in there is just because it's on her hands' way!! Lol

Has anyone seen savage? Is she ok?

peanut, so jealous we were awake all night with crying and feeding all night long! my baby is 6 weeks on friday and shows no interest for toys yet or her cot mobile. She prefers the tv , we have a huge one on the wall and my face.
she has wind and cries every time she passes one. since yesterday decided that she did not want the bottle anymore so i have spent the day feeding all day yesterday, my happiness was just short with her being so settle and my boobs are feeling it ! i mean i was still feeding every two h with bottle included but 2 hs i 2 hs of rest !

Jannine - yay to the bigger clothes! Re dummy, we took George's away a month or so ago as I was up and down to put it back in as much as I was when I was still doing night feeds. It took a night or two but he's much better now, he generally wakes once but as long as we just pop in and give him his rabbit back he goes straight off. We took the dummy away (straight in the bin so I didn't get desperate and give it back!) and did controlled crying to get past it. Not everyone's cup of tea but it did the trick.

I found e45 surprisingly ineffective with George, although its great for me. I took him to the docs and we've got oilatum for his bath and zerobase cream on prescription now.

Cake4brains, I second what Marta said re Dropbox. Hope you can get your pics back.

Ladies, is it normal for a 6 week old to take no notice in any toys?

He'll happily sit on my lap and smile if I pull funny faces at him and just watch the world go by. But if I shake a rattle he won't turn his head towards the noise or anything.

    Is this normal?
Yes, I think until they can actually hold toys they aren't really that interested in playing with them so it's only really from around 4+ months that toys actually become worthwhile.

Starting to think about taking the dummy away shortly, dreading doing it though as she sucks it all night and it seems to provide lots of comfort. What are others doing with dummies, am I being a bit mean taking it away at this stage?
How old is your LO? Mine rejcted the dummy anyway at about 4-5 months so we haven't used it since then. From what I've read, it's easiest to get rid of it either quite early on (which I did because both of mine rejected it anyway) or to wait till they are old enough to understand. But anecdotally it seems to vary from child to child - some don't bat an eyelid and others it seems to be a huge thing. You could always try taking it away and if you feel it's not the right time leave it till she's older.

If you PM me your address I would happily send you some bits and pieces (I wouldn't accept any money!) They are all in excellent condition and are mostly Mama's & Papa's and Next. Don't mind helping out a fellow MSE'r!

She is 15 months, but was born 13 weeks prem so really only just a year old. She has a few special needs and actually looks like a much younger baby than she is. I don't want her to still have the dummy when she is a toddler, but I'm just not sure if its the right time yet. Might try in the Easter holidays when I'm off work for a fortnight so if we have some bad nights I won't be like a zombie at work! Never really wanted to use a dummy but she had one straight away in the NICU as she needed to learn how to suck so the choice was taken from me!

I'm leaving the dummy thing (albeit attached to her bunny so for naps only) until she either loses interest or becomes aware enough to understand it better. Hopefully in time the bunny will become more of a comforter without the dummy attached (I've already dropped the number on there from 4 down to 1 gradually).

I bought an emergency understudy bunny the other day as bunny's looking very very well loved! She looked most bemused by two bunnies beside her - then proceeded to just hug one in each arm.
