My family is Irish and my oh's are all in Barbados so wouldn't know where to start (i have a vague memory you said your lil lady was mixed race that's why I ask, if I'm wrong ignore my baby brained ramblings lol)
You're not wrong - that was meFor shampoo and conditioner, we like the Dark & Lovely Kids range - I tried a few generic shampoos early on (as in stuff not targeted at black/mixed race hair), thinking she's really young, doesn't have much hair etc. but they were no good for her. Dark & Lovely do a couple of 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioners; we currently use this one and it works well for us. We also use this hair moisturising lotion (tiny blob on dry hair once a day) as her hair gets quite dry; again, we tried a few different ones and settled for this one because it doesn't make her hair greasy and it smells nice
Moisturiser - we use the Mini Naked My First Butter (this one) and it's perfect for her skin. It's not specifically for mixed race/black skin, but again we tried several and this is the best one for her by far.
Having said all this, what works for us may or may not work for you, so you might need to try a few different things before you find the right products for you. Dark & Lovely is a good place to start though, especially for hair care.0 -
.. does anyone have an Oyster stroller? Is it easy to fold down and fairly lightweight?
We have a second hand Graco travel system but as the little bubs is approaching 6m we need to get something a bit sturdier. And lighter as far as l'm concerned! With extendable handles, good suspension and a reversible seat. Any suggestions ladies?I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

Can people please tell me I'm not alone in having a baby that is constantly into things that she shouldn't be?! Pressing the buttons on the sky box, fiddling with the internet router, trying to pick wall paper from the walls, harassing my poor dogs and then having a paddy if I dare to intervene in her fun!! Ladies with younger babies have all this fun to come!
I would love to be able to put clips and hairbands on Poppy, but 1 she hasn't got much hair and 2 she would never in a million years be able to leave it alone in her hair!
I sneak on hairclips whilst she's distracted by something else, and amazingly (probably because I fiddle with her hair a lot, so she's used to it) most of the time she doesn't notice that she's got them in her hair! Hairbands are more difficult - they usually stay on for 10 minutes max.
Oh, and I've got the kind of baby you describe. Things she loves include* the internet router, laptop and phone cables, remote controls, shoes and a big plant. Today she figured out how to open the kitchen bin, so there's more fun to come!
*Edited to add: And mobile phones. How on earth could I forget to mention mobile phones?...0 -
hey all,
not been on for ages i must post more often. Ellie is doing fab now 16 months old had her heart check up a few weeks ago and all looking okayphew
Could I ask a favour. Ellie's heart condition wasnt picked up until she was 8 weeks old and very poorly. There is a pulse screening test that is painless and takes only a few minutes and there is a petition to bring it in as one of the checks newborns get it would pick up 75% of breathing problems and heart defect. Could you spare a few minutes to pop and sign it http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/37286 Thanks
I'm signing this now, my oh brother had heart problems so it's close to my heart, any screenings are surely a good thing to help a child!! Hope your lo is wellNewly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!0 -

Did I miss all the fun between Fluff and Rups?
Rups is doing well for those who miss her. She's often on fb and her little man is so gorgeous! She doesn't message me much any more but I do keep an eye on her.
I'm feeling rather useless here lately. I have no advice to give and currently don't have anyyhing to complain about... baby-wise anyway.0 -

Thank you, thank you, thank you!a point in the general direction is perfect and you're too kind with the in depth reply I really really appreciate it. When we were in London still I had a plethora of stores or hairdressers I could have gone to for advice but since we moved there is nothing around here at all - to the extent that my oh travels back to London to have his hair done as there isn't a barbers anywhere near us to have it done here - cheaper prices and the elusive extra bedroom and garden had an additional sacrifice we didn't even consider lol. Again, thank you I at least have something to start with now x
Bamama no latest fluff and rups installment - just remembering our time on the pregnancy thread with a smile x0 -

My bin broke this week and I bought this one to replace it: http://www.simplehuman.co.uk/products/bins/large-bins/slim-plastic-pedal-bin.php it has a lock, it looks good, it is narrow but deep and takes a lot (40l, it deceives), asda has it in white at £30 and John Lewis in black. Looks great by my chest freezer
Where's that other Facebook group? Could I get an invite?
My DH liked the Tripp trapp, I need to pm fluff and see if the alternative is as good. Shame I cannot buy that model at Boots, I have like £100 in points!!!Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

Let's see what DH says, the advantage of the Tripp Trapp or the one you have linked to,is that I can swap a normal chair for the high chair, so it wouldn't take any room. We don't have visitors often, so it would stay at the table with us. We currently put her bouncer on top of the table whilst we eat, but I'd love to be able to put her on a high chair. I want to decide on a model or two and wait for an offer or discount. I guess I cannot put my lo in a high chair yet? She holds her head unaided but she cannot sit unaided, what do you think? I know Stokke has a newborn accessory, which I could try to buy on eBay, and after that I should use a baby pack. Kiddicare has the chair now at £125 or so, but the packs are not cheap either!!! I wish fluff were still around to tell me about her experience with that chair
Edit: nutella, I can see in the pictures that the panels slide inside rails in the Tripp Trapp, but how are they kept in place? I cannot see anything stopping them from moving backwards or forward.
I bought a babydan highchair. Same design as the Tripp Trapp but about half the price.
They're great. But they don't come with trays so expect a lot of food on the floor and a trashed tableWe also bought the cushion because my OH insisted that it was more comfy that way. But then he's not the one trying to scrape avocado off it every day. I might take it off.
Here's the delicious Freddilicious trialling it..
