Well done Sunshine for not giving in - I'm sure it won't be long before he gives up and stops asking for milk. Hope you manage to have a nap today x

Oh Sunshine what an awful night :(. Hopefully he's got the worst of it out of his system now. Fingers crossed.

Yay for you though Nutella! :T

We were up at 6am this morning, so he's had brekkie and watched some Postman Pat. Just debating when to let him in to terrorise OH so I can get my brekkie in peace :D

Moneypenny my completely unmedical thoughts in gestational age... Some things are probably directly related to it (as it's how long the muscles or whatever have actually been growing) while others have to be related to how long baby has been breathing / digesting / free to move around / seeing. So with my 17 days over baby, he might be more advanced at some things but just the same as a 37weeker at others. I'm not too fussed though so long as he's developing, which he is. Oh said he rolled fully over yesterday for the first time :)

    SavageHK, yay for rolling! :T

We spent the morning in a family Duplo session - OH and I building lovely animals and houses, and LO deconstructing everything we'd just built. She loves it :D Lovely weather here though, so will be going out for a walk at some point - right now she's napping, so I've cleaned the bathroom, toilet and kitchen. Can't remember the last time I actually felt like doing things that don't involve sleeping - I might just have some ice cream to celebrate :)

Waking in the night isnt really a sign for solids, requesting more food all day would indicate that milk isnt filling them, maybe every 90 minutes or so.

Signs of food would be sitting up independently, grabbing at food, able to move hand to mouth with food in it.

Hugs for those having bad sleeps. xx

    Lovely weather here too :D

Baby this morning was in the kitchen with me when I started getting the roast ready... And managed to tip a whole box of cereal all over the floor

She's asleep and everyone else is out, dinners all prepped so I can have a 5 minute cuppa ans MSE catch up :j

Sleep training is hard so *hugs* to those of you currently going through that x

Duplo family days sound great! I'm going to see if there's any here!

Thanks guys. Im hoping if we can do 3-4 nights cold turkey he will forget about milk in the night. He isnt a massive eater so am trying my best to give little snacks now and then to fill him up, atm he is having a cheese spread sandwich and some bananna :)

  • Nutella - Yay indeed!!! :D I can only dream of such a sleep!!!!

Sunshine - You have my sympathies, though not 2.5 hours of crying we had an awful night :( I thought babies could only cry for an hour at most before giving up?! Eek!

Gilly - The book I read suggested all of those things you mentioned plus waking more at night for milk may be signs for solids - I appreciate books are just one person's opinion though :)

Savage - That's brilliant about the rolling!!! :D

delain - It made me chuckle about the cereal - less fun for you clearing it up though!

Looks like it was just a one off green nappy for us and no tummy bug luckily! Had the most horrendous nights sleep, I remember murmuring to OH at 3am "this is the 8th time I've got up since midnight" - it didn't fare any better after that :( in the end he gave up and took her downstairs so I could get a smidgen of sleep. Lots of catnaps of 20 mins in the day then she is wide awake, then really fights sleep when she is tired. Just clinging to the hope that it might improve one day but for now I am as shattered as I was in the first few weeks :( It has been about two weeks now, think I hoped it was a short phase but apparently not!

Hope everyone is having some better weather than us, grey & rainy - the sunshine yesterday lured us into a false sense of security that spring/summer had arrived!

Between 4-6m there is loads going on developmentally so there is defintely more going on in there heads which leaves them unable to switch off at night. With some.babies it will mean milk isnt satisfying them but usually on that scenario they will be irritable throughout the day also if they are costantly hungry if that makes sense?

Weaning can make very little difference with sleep as they eat so little with first foods that tend to be low calorie. Milk is definitely more calorific and filled with vitamins and minerals they need to grow.

We weaned early (which i regret now but i done so on doctors advice) an it done nothing to sleep at all, he still woke to be fed. What did seem to help was not milk intake increasing but changing his night milk feeds into day, so milk intake staying rhe same.but having it at various points in the day rather than night.
