Thanks Marta, I have a friend who lost a little one in similar circumstances but don't know how to bring the subject up and Bamama I mentioned it several times whilst I was pregnant and he got mortally offended and said he was just interested as I was his little sister and as a result I was again lectured by my mum for upsetting him - don't think there's any way to come out of this without being perceived the bad guy, bah!0

We have a base in the car and they are much easier than the one in my KA. I don't bother unstrapping it, just slid his legs under the belt. I can't offer much advise as we didn't buy either seat but I do prefer mine in one way, it has a 5 point harness and looks much safer the our other one (which is a 3 point).
I think the worry with cot bumpers is that they can cone undone and the straps cs- wrap around babies neck.0 -
Sorry I can't really offer any more advice DDB. Maybe tell him that you can call/skype once a week? So you won't have to update him so much... but that may just cause more problems.0

Hi ladies,
Just briefly popping in to say hi & can I join you all? Our little man; Connor was born on the 25th March.
Quick question before I run to make another bottle, for those of you who bottle feed how much was your lo having at 3 weeks? C is polishing off 120ml at a time & is showing signs of still being hungry after! Don't want to overfeed by increasing the amount but don't want him to be hungry either.
Hope you are all having a good day

I think the cot bumper thing is to do with possible suffocation - same reason as no duvet etc when they are young. Quite honestly I think if the cot bumper is breathable there shouldn't be an issue. I didn't think of the tie problem highlighted, but have seen velcro fastened ones which would avoid that problem.0

You can get a breathable cot bumper called airwrap0

But you have to take bumpers out once they can stand, as it could be used as a step to climb out of the cot. I only had one because it looked so cute0

Sorry DayDreamBeliever, I don't really know what to say, such a difficult and weird situation. I guess he's living it as if there was more than just a coincidence, as if his little girl somehow is represented in your lo, and seeing your daughter grow gives him the illusion of seeing his. Of course, she's your daughter and that's that, but maybe he's found a way to heal through your daughter. I don't really know what to suggest, I guess this would be better seen from someone who had lost also a baby so late in pregnancy, and see how they felt / how they healed.
I'm trying to figure out car seats and again I'm dead confused. I want something that stays in the car and most of all very easy to use. I want to sit my lo and have her ready within seconds. I hate my infant car seat because it's so annoying to have to put the seat belt around, get the right inclination, fasten her with the little belt inside... It takes us a few minutes before she's ready, and by that time she's usually complaining. Would an isofix be easier? Or a belted base? Or belted seat? I want rear face for as long as possible.
Also, why are cot bumpers not popular? How do you stop your lo from putting their legs between the bars and hurt themselves twisting? My lo woke up screaming because she did this a couple of days ago. Now she wakes up every hour because she has rolled onto her tummy and still does not know how to roll back!!
Car seats - we used our carrier one for a while like that - but have those seatbelts you can take fully out so they've got a buckle at the very end of the seatbelt - I'd undo that so there wasn't anything over the lap part of the babyseat, put the baby in and then re-do it (if you don't have that type of car this'll make no sense to you)... then we got a britax first class plus that goes from birth upwards which stays in the car and is much less annoying.
Cot bumpers and legs... legs - sleeping bags stop that trick with legs in the bars, bumpers - we have one as it came free with the cot - but I don't use it - it annoyed me too much when changing sheets to be honest.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -

Congrats!!! My lo (4weeks today) was on 100 he's now on 120 but he went up really fast to this point. Felt like all I did was feed and I kept asking if I was over feeding but midwives, health visitor were all happy and never once said any of it was strange. So don't worry, if he gets too full he'll sick it up, better to top up and baby be happy and full. I asked this same thing 2 weeks ago on this thread! Hope this helpsNewly Married, not a 2b anymore!!
