I'm sorry you have the same problem Bamama but kind of glad I'm not the only one. I'm really hoping it's mostly the breastfeeding and will slow down when LO starts eating solids as otherwise I'll be down to a BMI of 18 when she turns one at this rate.0

Hi everyone this is my first time on this board but recognise a few names from the pregnancy board a couple of years ago, I was wondering if anyone had any exoerience of toddlers withholding poo.
We are currently having the worst time ever with Lilly, we were using movicol which was working but she started to get the runs so we stopped, big mistake, I have had a week of her screaming in pain, her bottom is red raw from acidy overflow and she has not slept, we are back on the movicol just waiting for it to work.
It turns out that she should have gone on maintenance after getting the runs but the docs didn't tell me that.
I'm wondering how long I can expect for her to have to be on it.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
bless her! That sounds horrible
I remember you from before but have no experience of that problem, all I can say is ask the gp.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

Gp basically said until you think the mental block has gone! Hoping someone might have been through this and is out the other side!
As far I can see though there is no way of knowing without risking the withholding again and ending up back at square one!I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
It's been so long since I logged onto the MSE site that I didn't know everyone had moved threads. I wondered why I wasn't receiving email digests any more...

Evening everyone. Pukkamum that sounds awful, cant help but can sympathise. Mine have been constipated all week and that was bad enough, awful to hear them in pain
My brother is having the girls for the first time tomorrow morning. My SIL is working so he is having them on his own too :T. He did make me laugh bless him.... apparently he has charged his camera so he can take lots of pics of them in cute outfits (budding photographer that he is). I don't think he has even thought about all the outfit changes he will have to do :rotfl:. I've just been ordered to have some outfits ready. I'd better get the iron out in the morning then
Was asked what I will do with my free time and I did think its going to fly by so quickly I might just get a bit of housework done before they're home. Remembered its my Uncles birthday Sunday though so will bake him a cake. Or some cupcakes. Depending how lazy I feel!
The girls and hubby are in bed so having a lovely glass of wine (only 1 though cos its leftovers from when my friend was over and that's all that's left in the bottle!), then going to read my kindle for half hour to wind down before bed. Heaven!
well that was the plan, can hear someone stirring on the monitor :j:T Gorgeous twin girls born 1st Nov 2012 :T:j0 -

My eldest DD (aged 3) is on movicol, one sachet daily and has been for about 4 months. We have been told she may be on it until she is about 5. It took nearly 18 months and several consultations to finally get this as I kept being told that lactalose was best but not give it every day as the body would get lazy. Basically it just didn't work and she was getting distressed in between going and obviously whilst goingmovicol has worked a treat for her, but, I was told that she would need to continue the medication until she grew out of the issue. For most children this is about the age of 5. I do every now and again not give it her for a day or so to see if she is better, she is much better than she was but not enough to not give it to her.
I hope that is of use, if you feel you are not getting proper advice from one doctor, please seek a second opinion, we did and it made a world of difference
